JOB OVERVIEW

The Sr. Director Retail Category Advisory Services is responsible for leading all MPG Category Advisory teams in the pursuit driving analytical best practices, standardization and capability building to deliver on share and revenue growth targets outlined by our client partners - leveraging data tools, category and marketplace assessment principles/templates, consumer/shopper/industry insights. The Sr.Director must be self-motivated and demonstrate a relentless curiosity and sense of urgency. Personal time management and effective team prioritization will be necessary to achieve goals. This position is remote.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Marketplace Analytics and Insight Leadership

Accelerate MPG Industry Knowledge and Insight Development through the fostering the application of analytical best practices and standardized data tools across the full Retailer Advisory Team

  • Democratize and standardize, as valuable, data access across Advisory customer teams through unified market performance tools and category management analytical practices
  • Responsible for leading the Advisory team in developing, optimizing & maintaining planograms for shopability, space to sales, capacity utilizing JDA and other applicable tools such as Shelf IQ.
  • Lead team in the application of these principles to identify customer/consumer insights to strategically position our retail partners for success
  • Direct teams to ensure effective support and delivery of assigned tasks in external client or internal partner relationships.
  • Foster executive relationships across Retailer teams and effectively lead Retailer client engagement in a way that supports a true partnership where the efforts of one are seamless to the other. Build and maintain critical relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders both internally and externally, identify and facilitate process improvement opportunities, knowledge sharing and best practices application with other team members.
  • Lead team development of summarized and impactful trend synthesis and high quality deliverables to inform winning Category Strategies and space management execution.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Responsible for the training and development of the Retail Category Advisory team members to ensure best practice consistency in reporting, data management and insights generation/application.

  • Identify and secure new business from current and prospective clients for Category Management/Advisory
    • Ability to lead a team to overdeliver on client expectations and ensure growth in partnership and revenue for both parties
    • Ability to think strategically about resource planning and longer term growth outcomes
    • Ability to prospect and secure new clients and business leverage cases study examples and established industry networks
    • Ability to positively influence both clients and internal MPG resources to collaborate on share goals and outcomes
    • Effective and efficient project management skills with the ability to prioritize, multi-task, and keep projects moving – both personally and leading a team to the same approach.
    • Strong communication and presentation skills that will allow for success in a virtual team environment
  • Enhance and expand current client relationships through building awareness for MPG Analytics capabilities and services that align to their client needs.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Skills and Capabilities

  • Ability to manage successfully in the matrix environment, able to build positive working interfaces across dotted line reporting relationships
  • Ability to work in a disruptive environment where priorities change rapidly and tight deadlines exist
  • Robust knowledge of consumer products industry and category, brand, and retail strategies
  • Ability to live into the Better Together Values.

Experience and Education

  • 15+ years in consumer products Category Management, Sales and Business Analytics. 5+ years team leadership.

Bachelor’s degree required
