Job Summary:

Onsemi is seeking a Senior Member of Technical Staff, to drive the SiC materials technology development aspects, especially SiC Crystal Growth, material characterization, defect engineering, hotzone design, and furnace design. The candidate will need to drive initiatives to reduce defects, improve quality, make continuous improvement to process and equipment and meet mission critical timeline and stay within budget. These initiatives include partnering with technology development teams, business units, global supply chain, internal manufacturing sites and quality to deliver products on time, right cost and high quality. This is a “hands on” position. The successful candidate is expected to be able to work independently as well as within teams. They should possess analytical skills to identify problems, the leadership skills to own and drive improvement across all aspects of the technology development, R&D, the technical skills to balance the benefits and risks of various solution paths as they relate to production output, ramp timing and quality.

Performance Objectives:

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to:

  • Build and establish cooperative relationships with technology development, manufacturing teams globally, sales, global supply chain organizations and quality to define and execute SiC Crystal Growth and wafer technology development
  • Collaborate with the research and development, engineering and manufacturing teams to develop innovative SiC crystal growth process, to stay ahead of the curve in the industry
  • Work with cross functional team to solve complex design, device, and process integration yield issues
  • Utilize regular review processes to identify key gaps/risks to execution of delivering N+1 products technology transfer
  • Contributes to the department’s continuous improvement process. Continually looks for ways to improve processes and is proactive in identifying potential problems.
  • Researches new technology or development tools to remain informed of current technology.
  • Works with management to establish methods to meet work schedules.
  • Interviews, hires, supervises, trains, develops, motivates, and evaluates the performance of staff.

Qualifications


Requirements:

  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in Silicon carbide crystal growth industry, with an advanced degree in semiconductor engineering related field.
  • Should have hands on experience with Silicon carbide crystal growth, thermal modelling, hotzone design, furnace engineering/material characterization and understanding of defect engineering.
  • Strong experience in ramping semiconductor technology to mass production quickly and successfully
  • Experience in planning design of experiments,
  • Analyze the supply chain demand signals, translate them to capacity requirements, and align them to the overall manufacturing strategy to balance risk and optimize cost.
  • Ability to clearly and concisely present data and findings to management.
  • Cross functional and remote factories management
  • Experience with PCN process.
  • Ability to drive change
  • Willing to travel up to 20% of the time as required
