Job Summary/Purpose
The Sr Mgr, Strategic Procurement (Source-to-Contract) serves as a strategic supply chain leader and business process owner for Entergy’s Source-to-Contract value stream responsible for developing and enabling Supplier Commercial Excellence across a division of the $5-$6B managed spend portfolio. The Sr Mgr will serve as a key business partner and strategic advisor to the Nuclear and Capital Project organization and accomplish clearly articulated and executable commercial strategies that maintain Entergy’s competitive advantage.
The primary objective is to create value through an end-to-end supply chain in terms of market competitiveness, leverage of category management plans, and supplier performance in the space of safety, quality, and innovation across the company’s nuclear business function.
This Sr Mgr is a key member of the Source to Contract Leadership team, and partners across the enterprise with senior leaders (Executive, OPCO President & CEO’s, SVP & VP levels) on a regular basis to develop comprehensive, collaborative, integrated, and progressive commercial strategies. Strategically aligned in a highly visible way with the priorities of the company and viewed as a value creator.
Core Responsibilities
- Safety/Human Performance:
- Ensure the Team always puts safety first. Actively promote strong safety behaviors, utilizing key tools, proactive field visits to review standards and behaviors. Monitoring and influencing Suppliers to proactively identify any safety concerns.
- Supplier Commercial Excellence:
- Accountable for the development and execution of progressive commercial strategies that enable favorable outcomes for all key stakeholders. Commercial strategies should be comprehensive in nature and developed with the business function in support of business objectives to drive value and service delivery.
- Category Management:
- Accountable for the strategic development and discipline of Category Management, ensuring teams understand the market and category characteristics.
- Strategic Sourcing
- Establish strategic sourcing methodology to be utilized extensively to maximize value through customized, multi-year commercial strategies, while managing risk.
- Partnership & Performance:
- Expected to work as a partner with functional business leadership to fully understand the business context, priorities, and challenges. Execute effective supplier performance and relationship programs that supports project predictability and favorable outcomes in the space of safety, quality, cost, and schedule certainty.
- Service Orientation
- Aligns with customers around service level indicators and plans for monitoring and improving them; knows the plans of customer base and uses them to identify and prioritize improvements.
- Vendor Management & Oversight:
- Accountable for the development and ownership of an enterprise framework focused on vendor engagement; vendor performance; vendor risk; strategic alliance management; and contract governance.
- Culture:
- Always the Director shall operate with the highest ethical standards and in full compliance with internal controls, policies, procedures, regulations, and laws. Accountable through supply base partners to execute Entergy’s Supplier Diversity, Sustainability, & Local Spend objectives.
- People Leadership
- Accountable for leverage of Supply Chain’s Talent Management Strategy to assure the right Supply Chain talent is recruited, developed, retained, and deployed in line with key business priorities. Mentor and coach staff.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Enable a workforce-driven continuous improvement culture to achieve premier financial and operational results. As a leader, enable time & resources to execute continuous improvement opportunities. Participate, engage, and utilize continuous improvement tools, frameworks, principles, and professional training as a standard.
Minimum education required for the position:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Accounting, Engineering, Legal, or other related discipline OR in lieu of a degree a 4 years of combined supply chain experience can be substituted
- MS/MBA degree preferred. Professional supply chain/procurement certification preferred.
Minimum experience required of the position
- 12 years of experience in project management, commercial operations, contracting and negotiations experience.
- Preferred:
- 5+ year’s Supervisory experience and/or equivalent leadership experience managing across multiple sites and locations.
- 5+ year of energy related Commercial or Supply Chain experience preferred.
- Nuclear experience is strongly preferred
Knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position
- Understanding of Capital Project Management stage gate processes & Supply Chain best practices.
- Deep experience in commercial acumen; complex commercial strategy development & progression.
- Strong strategic and analytical thinker with an ability to provide focus on service delivery.
- Experience with process optimization and continuous improvement preferred.
- Strong collaboration, relationship management, and negotiation skills and abilities.
- Strong communication, facilitation, presentation, and creative problem-solving skills
