Position Summary:
Plays a lead role in the development of smart sensor technologies.

Position Requirements:
1. Work with customers in defining new product design and development, generating proposals, developing project plans, and validation specifications.
2. Work with internal and external customers to identify special characteristics for products and processes based on significance or criticality.
3. Responsible for analog design, digital design, and embedded firmware from concept to production.
4. Evaluation and selection of appropriate electronic components including microprocessors, ASICs, Analog Interface, and Power Interfacing for high volume, low cost products.
5. Use of OrCAD/PCB Layout design tools for schematic capture and board layout.
6. Real time programming in C and Assembly for Intel/Motorola/Microchip/Freescale microcontrollers.
7. Test and debug of complex electronic circuits.
8. Create and maintain engineering documentation such as bills of material, D/PFMEA, process flows, specifications, procedures, and other types of engineering documentation.
9. Identify, track, and resolve open issues (internal and customer driven) for products under development and in production.
10. 10. Establish and maintain key Customer Engineering contacts and promote SSI Engineering and Manufacturing capabilities.
11. 11. Interface with peers, technical resources outside of the company (universities, professors, etc.), suppliers, and customers.
12. 12. Procures prototype sources/tooling and verifies tooling capability. Including prototype product failure analysis on customer returns, scrap & DV/PV parts and reports results.
13. 13. Work with and/or direct Technicians and Designers in product development activities.
14. 14. Maintain compliance to customer specific requirements as applicable.
15. 15. Individuals directed by management to operate a vehicle for work purposes will observe the requirements of the Fleet Safety Program.
16. 16. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
17. 17. Support, promote, and perform in a manner consistent with continuous improvement goals and the values of SSI Technologies, LLC. which includes following the policies, procedures, and requirements of our Quality Management and IS0 14001 Environmental Management Systems.
18. 18. All other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

Professional/Technical Experience, Skills and Education:
1. Electrical Engineering Degree (EE) or 1-3 years of equivalent industry experience
2. Experience in high volume manufacturing OR experience with embedded electronics with competency in printed circuit board design, and embedded firmware development.
3. Proficient in Microsoft Office
4. Knowledge of OrCAD/PCB Layout design tools.
