A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A STAFF ACCOUNTANT
The staff accountant will perform accounting-related duties and work closely with the Senior Accountant and Owners to achieve organizational goals.
Job Requirement and Responsibilities Include:
- Assist with financial statement preparation, monthly balance sheet reconciliation, accounts payable processing, daily revenue and cash reconciliations and other related finance projects.
- Reconcile the bank statements daily.
- Reconcile daily credit card charges.
- Review daily revenue and deposits.
- Process and review weekly accounts payable invoices.
- Assist in evaluation of reports, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of the department and services performed.
- Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of the department and services performed.
- Maintain accounting records and reports.
- General ledger maintenance and reconciliations.
- Assist with preparation and submission of city, county, and state tax filings.
- Monitor transaction flow from POS (Point of Sale) to PMS (Property Management Software) to prevent loss of revenue.
- Assist with the timely month-end close.
- Special Projects as assigned by management or ownership.
- Regular attendance in management meetings.
- Assist with processing and distributing all monthly Owner Statement funds according to published schedule.
Education
- 2-3 years of accounting experience preferably in the hospitality industry, including both accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance from accredited four-year college or university.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid Driver's License
- Excellent background and motor vehicle report
- Experience with accounting software, PMS, Property Management POS, and Microsoft office.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts.
- Ability to operate phones, calculator, computer equipment, fax machines, copier and printers.
- Strong interpersonal skills, problem solving and planning skills.
- Able to carry out tasks independently and accurately.

WORK SCHEDULE
Normal working hours for the position are Monday - Friday 8 - 5. The office is open 7 days per week.
- Able to work weekends and holidays as required to meet deadlines.
- Able to work flexible hours and extended shifts as required to meet deadlines.
Physical Requirements
- Able to stand and/or sit for long periods of time
- Must be able to lift 15-20 lbs
