We are seeking State Filings Analyst to join our State Fillings and Product Development group in the New York City, Florham Park, NJ or Charlotte, NC office.

The Commercial Lines (CL) State Filings Analyst is responsible for preparing, submitting and negotiating approval of CL rate, rule & form filing documents for assigned states, and maintaining accurate and accessible records related to those filings. The Analyst will coordinate interaction between internal departments and actuarial consultant(s) as needed throughout the filing process. The Analyst will review regulatory publications for impact on company filings and product offerings and will provide support to internal departments on filing related issues. The Analyst will work with other departments on issues concerning regulatory compliance and may be assigned special ad hoc projects or participation in company initiatives as necessary.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepares and submits commercial lines bureau-related and independent property and casualty rate, rule and form filing documents to State Departments of Insurance (DOI) in accordance with state filing requirements and within established timeframes
  • Develops and maintains knowledge of regulatory and compliance matters relating to assigned states; reviews and interprets state statutes, regulations, bulletins, etc. to determine impact and ensure compliance; reviews advisory organization publications for appropriate filing action.
  • Coordinates and contributes to responses to DOI filing criticisms and requests for additional information; communicates/negotiates with state regulators and establishes positive working relationships with those regulators.
  • Understands and supports the filing strategy for multistate/countrywide filings; coordinates multistate/countrywide filings by assisting in preparation of multistate/countrywide filing material; maintains master copy of same.
  • Creates, revises, files and distributes finalized CL rate/rule manual pages for external and internal use. Maintains status sheets for completed filings. Prepares communications announcing CL rate, rule & form filing updates and approvals.
  • Consults with HOU UW LOB Managers and Actuarial Consultants on filing authorizations and filing support. Participates in special projects and/or research as assigned. Assists SF Mgr/HOU UW with responses to Market Conduct Exams and state surveys.
  • Consults with Product Development Analysts for appropriate programming of approved CL rates, rules & forms. Participates in meetings for implementation.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • College degree preferred.
  • Prior experience in Property & Casualty insurance industry required.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in state filings or regulatory compliance area preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage competing tasks and priorities.
  • Excellent on-line research and analytical skills.
  • Ability to negotiate successfully.
  • Strong attention to detail and organization
  • Ability to work with a sense of urgency to meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective communication and cooperation at all organizational levels of the company.
  • Experience using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, SERFF.

Salary Range: $60,000– $85,000 Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience
