Strategic Buyer (Greeneville)
The Strategic Buyer is responsible for managing all aspects of category/commodity of the supplier relationship including supplier assessments, qualification and selection processes in order to comply with the organization’s delivery, terms, quality, inventory goals and policies. Negotiate, finalize and communicate all specifications for products and services in soliciting proposals with competitive pricing, terms, quality and service. Working with manager, incumbent will be responsible in selecting suppliers for strategic categories/commodities as well as the formulation of commodity inventory/buy plans to support a manufacturing facility.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
o Understand market conditions and advantages/disadvantages during negotiations with multiple vendors.
o Coordinates with the legal department to draft service and supply agreements/contracts and reviews agreements with sourcing manager.
o Ensures ongoing supplier development to improve supply chain performance
o Resolves supplier pricing, quality, response/service issues on assigned commodities.
o Establishes specifications for products and services and support requirements, within assigned category/commodity/services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Sources new suppliers for key categories/commodities, evaluating and analyzing their capabilities to fulfill the organization’s needs for products and services. Providing flexibility, innovation, competitive pricing, and quality.
- Assists in determination of new supplier selection and approval under company guidelines and direction set by the procurement manager. In conjunction with manager, the incumbent will make final selection of suppliers.

- Responsible for the day to day management for assigned commodities to ensure material availability for a manufacturing facility. Utilizes available data to formulate inventory and buy plans for specified commodities.
o Ensures ongoing supplier development to improve supply chain performance
o Resolves supplier pricing, quality, response/service issues on assigned commodities.
o Establishes specifications for products and services and support requirements, within assigned category/commodity/services.
- Interfaces with various departments on projects/programs including Creative, Product Management, Fulfillment, Manufacturing, and Estimating.
- Identifies and implements joint cost control measures such as Kanban, combining orders, vendor managed programs, and other logistic/supply chain efficiencies.
- Increases response and service levels provided within the Procurement, Sourcing and Supply Chain Teams to meet global standards and expectations.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Experience Required:
- 5+ years of experience in a supply chain, sourcing or consulting role.
- Sourcing experience
- Previous experience leading projects and intiatives
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office 365 with an advanced understanding of Excel. Proficiency building/maintaining an Access database is a plus.
- Experience with Oracle 11i is preferred.
- Ability to communicate verbally or in writing vertically and cross functionally.
- Must be able to work independently, prioritizing tasks to ensure timely completion of projects as well as daily work.
- Travel may be required up to/less than 15%.
- Excellent organizational, time management and negotiation/persuasion skills.
- Prior experience managing request for proposals desired.
Education Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or equivalent experience required.
