Strategy and Development Associate - Remote
Job description
The Strategy and Development Associate supports the lifecycle of strategic planning across Optum Tri-State with an emphasis on strategic growth and value-based care delivery transformation. This role will work closely with the Chief Strategy & Analytics Officer and corporate stakeholders. As part of the Strategy and Development function you will be part of a team responsible for the development and execution of enterprise strategy, growth, and operational transformations.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Identifying strategic priorities, developing roadmaps to realize identified opportunities, and articulating the value proposition for key local and corporate stakeholders:
- Conducting cost benefit analysis, including some modeling, to assess and prioritize capability development opportunities
- Driving research and development through definition of pilots, evaluation criteria, development plans for scaling, as well as leading implementations as needed
- Understanding, assessing, prioritizing, and validating business demands and requirements through direct interaction with business stakeholders and proactive analysis for opportunities to develop and grow the business
- Synthesizing outputs to communicate recommendations to business leaders and drive adoption
- Coordinating vendor procurement for sourced capability developments and deployment of UHG assets
- Designing and developing operating models and implementation plans with cross-functional partners
- Informing and documenting best practice operating procedures for working collaboratively in a highly matrixed, cross-functional environment
- Maintaining a pulse on industry trends, especially business model innovation and enablement for value-based care
- Supporting strategy development, business planning, and tie into capital planning across Tri-State Care Delivery Organizations and Risk Bearing Entities
- Facilitating strategic discussions among subsets of the Senior Team and their direct reports
- Supporting the development of strategic plans at the market or business-unit level, including development of frameworks, governance structures, and development plans and roadmaps
- Supporting development of strategies and roadmaps in support of UHG annual planning cycles
- Ideating and leading performance improvement initiatives in local markets and service lines
- Organizing and promulgating broad-based growth strategies (in-market strategies, geographic expansion, and service-line expansion)
- Governing inorganic and organic growth initiatives and functions through strategic oversight of deal and recruiting processes from pipeline sourcing through execution and integration.
- Developing frameworks to track and prioritize a portfolio of strategic and operational initiatives, driving consensus on objectives, timelines, and measuring progress and value creation against plans
- Evaluating strategic partnerships and engaging cross-functional stakeholder committees to drive decision-making and implementation
- Accelerating development of capabilities for converting from FFS to Value-based care
- Cultivating relationships and trust with senior enterprise partner stakeholders
NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Other - Performs other duties as assigned including personnel recruitment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree in healthcare management or quantitative disciplines (Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Business Administration), or related field. MBA strongly preferred
- 2-6 years of experience in a strategy and development role in managed care or a consulting role with significant exposure to projects in healthcare
- Analytics proficiency required (financial modeling, data analytics)
- Experience in value-based care economics, managed care, or population health a plus
- Work location flexible; should be able to attend in-office periodically

Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada or NYC Residents Only: The pay range for Colorado residents is $82,100 to $146,900 per year. The pay range for Connecticut / Nevada/NYC residents is $90,500 to $161,600. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your base compensation, Optum Medical Care, P.C. offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
