Position Purpose

Support the manufacturing division by streamlining structural projects through design, fabrication utilizing CNC structural cutting technology and installation. Design and model structural solutions in 3-D design software, create fabrication and installation drawings for the shop and field tradesmen.

Position Responsibilities

• Design and 3-D model industrial structural systems and components for customers as needed; Industrial Structural Systems and Components may include but are not limited to structural supports for equipment within, outside of or attached to buildings, access platforms, stairways, equipment skids/frames, equipment lift structure, piping/duct supports and structures not similar to buildings (tanks, silo’s and pressure vessels).
• Program shop CNC structural cutting machine, create cut lists and material lists for projects.
• Order material, schedule deliveries and coordinate project deadlines with the shop and field Foreman.
• Convert field drawings and sketches into 3-D model and generate reports and files for shop fabrication of the work.
• Create weld maps, document changes and file documentation and drawings in project folders.
• Field measure existing facilities, as needed and develop drawings for the installations.
• Work with Engineers, Project Managers, Field Foreman, VDC Department, Programmers and Shop Foreman to provide design solutions and assist in scheduling and execution of the work.
• Assist in developing standards for structural 3-D detailing and its use within planning, estimating, operations and business development to stream-line process and methods.
• Support and maintain a safe and Lean work environment.
• Other duties as assigned.

Summary of Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

• 5+ years’ experience in the 3-D modeling and for fabrication detailing of structural systems.
• Experience with Autodesk – Advance Steel, preferred. Equivalent structural detailing programs will be considered.
• Strong understanding of shop fabrication practices, tools and welding methods.
• Strong desire and commitment to learn CNC software and Virtual Design and Construction methods and tools.
• Ability to read and understand field sketches, drawings, engineering reports and project specifications.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Self-motivated, ability to work independently as well as with a team.
• Able to multi-task and set priorities
• Strong understanding of OSHA requirements as it relates to structural systems, is a plus.
• Experience in the field installation or shop fabrication of structural systems, is a plus.
