Job Description:

JOB DUTIES - Provides general nursing care (i.e., personal hygiene, routine vital signs, passing and picking up meal trays, positioning patients, lifting and turning patients, providing fresh water, applying/utilizing special equipment, assisting in the use of bedpan, urinal, or commode, ambulating the patient, pre and post-operative care, application of abdominal binders; performs routine treatment procedures including enemas, application of appliances of heat and cold, sitz baths, and specimen collections). Follows Hospital and Departmental policies and procedures. Professional Practice is based on the theoretical framework of nursing at Baptist Health Paducah including principles of Relationship-Based Care.

QUALIFICATIONS AND ACCOUNTABILITY – High School graduation or completion of G.E.D verified.

Must be enrolled in nursing program including one of the following:

• Successful completion of the fundamentals of nursing
• Successful nurse aide training and state certification
• Nurse aide experience

Supervised by Department Director of the unit, Charge Nurse of the shift, and Team Leader (RN or LPN). The Director conducts performance evaluations at the end of the three-month probationary period with input from the charge nurse. Evaluations are completed thereafter on a yearly basis.
