This position is responsible for handling the shipping and receiving needs for the Operations Division of the Voice of America. The applicant will receive, log, inventory, barcode, and deliver or store goods within 5 stories of a building that covers a full city block. Handling outbound packages and freight is a lesser function of this position but remains a critical element. Operation of shipping and receiving equipment is required. The chosen applicant must be familiar with common carriers requirements for shipping and receiving goods.
Duties: 1) Receive, log, and prepare for delivery/pickup of incoming deliveries 2) Barcode and enter new assets into Broadcast Operations asset management system 3) Notify individuals of deliveries that have come in for them after the incoming delivery has been logged 4) Arrange for either pickup or delivery of incoming deliveries and have recipient sign for delivery 5) Collect signed packing slips and send to either Procurement or Contracting Officers 6) Arrange for pickup of outgoing deliveries 7) Accept walk-in outgoing deliveries 8) Arrange for shipping of outgoing deliveries and ensure their shipment 9) Provide shipping and tracking information to sender if they provide an email address 10) Be available to assist/take large deliveries and shipments from the Cohen Loading Dock. 11) Coordinate and be available to assist/take large deliveries and shipments from the Humphrey Building Loading Dock 12) Clean up and organize shop 13) Keep track of shop supplies and notify Supervisor when quantities fall below set levels. 14)
Other assigned/required tasks Requirements: 1) Must be able to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 2) Must have High School Diploma or Equivalency 3) Must be able to, alone, lift and carry 50lbs safely 4) Must be able to, alone, climb a ladder and move items weighing up to 50lbs safely up and down the ladder. 5) Must be able to raise arms over one’s head to safely place and remove items weighing up to 50lbs from shelving. 6) Must be able to stand for long periods of time 7) Must be able to safely operate both manual and powered pallet lift jacks 8) Must have good and proficient verbal and written skills 9) Must be able to proficiently operate a Windows OS Computer Skills: 1) Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word 2) Familiar with FedEX and other online shipping applications
