Statements of Purpose

The therapist fulfills direct service, including individual, couple/family and group psychotherapy, consultations, and crisis intervention.

Major Task, Duties and Responsibilities

· Knowledge of drug and alcohol dependency, mental health, family systems and 12 step/recovery resources in the community.

· Maintain appropriate documentation as required.

· Conduct assessments of clients at the time of admission and re-assessments as required.

· Conduct mental status examinations.

· Provide appropriate diagnoses and treatment recommendations based on a review of the client’[s history, signs, and symptoms.

· Provide individual, couple/family, and group psychotherapy as needed.

· Ability to demonstrate respect for cultural and lifestyle diversities of clients and staff.

· Crisis intervention services, including 5150 determinations.

· Treatment Planning.

· Participation in Case Conference Reviews.

· Provide Utilizations Reviews as required.

· Knowledge of current legal standards pertaining to professional practice, reporting requirements, professional boundaries, and related issues.

· Provide in-service training to staff and/or trainee on mental health topics as needed.

· Knowledge of the philosophy and approach of the 12-step model of recovery (AA, CA,NA,Alanon).

Supervision available towards licensure hours by a seasoned licensed psychologist.

Prerequisite Qualifications

Following are the qualifications required to perform the essential functions of this position. Qualifications may be subject to modification based on the Americans with Disabilities Act.

A Masters or Doctorate degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or social science. Licensed by the California Board of Behavioral Science as an ASW or AMFT, or by the Board of Psychology as a Psychology Assistant. Minimum of two years experience in evaluating and/or treating persons suffering from mental illness and chemical dependency.

Must have valid California driver’s license and liability insurance if driving personal vehicle on Center business.

Vision, hearing, manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination must be adequate for performance of job duties. Able to sit at desk, use keyboard, write and physically perform other job duties. Able to move about the facility to observe clients and staff.

Specific qualifications may vary based on assignment. The supervisor will initial those items on the following list, which apply and write N/A to indicate those qualifications which are not applicable:

· Class “B” Driver’s License

· Class “C” Driver’s License

· Personal vehicle with liability insurance for reimbursable mileage, generally short distances.

· First Aid certification, obtain within 90 days of employment and maintain current thereafter.

· CPR certification, obtain within 90 days of employment and maintain current thereafter.

· Medication training required within 30 days of employment. Licensed nursing staff only

· Bilingual (specify: ___________________)

· Develop computer skills adequate to perform word processing duties within 90 days of employment.
