How will I contribute

Provide telephone crisis and suicide risk evaluations at Central Valley Suicide Prevention Hotline. This service is a telephone-based position where there is not face to face contact with those utilizing the service. Know resources within the seven counties being served and after-hours contracts.

Provide crisis evaluation, intervention, and counseling to those in crisis. Specifically, provide suicide risk assessment for Central Valley Suicide Prevention Hotline callers. Willingness to work various hours as the program operates 24hrs a day, 365 days a year. Provide suicide telephone intervention and counseling to those in crisis.

Evaluate consumer for the need of W & I 5150 Codes Evaluation, coordinating appropriate shorMerm rescue response.

Uphold all American Association of Suicidology standards by which CVSPH is accredited by.

Have basic computer skills which will be used to document each call and collect data for every contact and each county we serve.

Have willingness to be trained on evidenced based suicide and crisis intervention techniques to utilize on lifeline phone service.

Have ability to work with supervisor and emergency first responders who will be called for an active rescue and welfare checks.

Be willing to assist volunteers acclimate to all aspects of the Central Valley Suicide Prevention Hotline functions.

Maintain clear, accurate and concise consumer records in a timely manner via iCarol data collection software program & additional software programs as required.

What I bring

High School Diploma / BA/BS preferred

bachelor’s in psychology or social science preferred will consider in degrees in progress

Basic Computer Skills.

Experience working with the public

Ability to self ·regulate and utilize calmness to manage crisis situations.

Ability to document case notes appropriately.

Ability to engage consumers and safely de-escalate situations by using specialized tactics, strength-based techniques, and adequate and immediate linkage.

Ability to take clear concise notes.
