Latona School Associates(LSA) at the John Stanford International School in Seattle's Wallingford neighborhood is hiring a support teacher for our after school program, Support Teachers are responsible for working as part of a team to plan & implement activities in a high quality, licensed, school age program. LSA teachers are energetic, consistent, caring, skilled in conflict management, know how to have FUN, and enjoy work in a collaborative environment. Assistant Teachers collaborate with the Lead Teachers in the general operation of each classroom including planning and implementing curriculum. Additionally, our teachers share general responsibilities including cleaning, organizing ,preparing snacks and complete other tasks as needed by the Program Director and Executive Director.
Classroom Duties:
Provide active supervision of children according to the expectations of the Lead Teacher, LSA Administrators and Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) licensing guidelines, which includes-but is not limited to- the following:
- Manage the behavior of large groups of students to ensure safety
- Orchestrate specific activities with small groups of students
- Adhering to planned strategies to manage individual children’s behavior
- Work collaboratively with the Lead Teacher in preparing a safe and engaging classroom environment
- Work collaboratively with the Lead Teacher in planning and implementing classroom activities, aligned with JSIS curriculum, under the supervision of the Lead Teacher
- Engage with and communicate with students calmly and respectfully, modeling appropriate behavior at all times (see Personnel Policy for details)
- Communicate daily with Lead Teacher and Program Director about any concerns regarding child safety, child behaviors, etc.
Additional Duties:
- Administer discipline according to LSA Discipline Policy
- Follow record keeping guidelines
- Attend all staff meetings (weekly) and training
- Attend LSA Events
- Maintain confidentiality
- Promote goodwill and team-building
- Perform other duties and responsibilities asassigned
Hours: Monday-Friday 22.5-30 hours a week
Salary & Benefits: $21-$24 depending on experience. Benefits include paid time off and 10-12 paid holidays and other benefits depending on hours worked, including medical.
Qualifications: Applicants must have experience working with school age (5-12 years old) youth. The following certificates are preferred. DEL Portable Background Check, NegativeTB Skin Test, CPR/ First Aid, STARS Basic Training, Food Handlers Permit.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $21.00 - $24.00 per hour
