We are looking for a reliable professional to join our team as a Supported Living Professional. You provide one on one 1:1 support in a residential setting to a client with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities in finding housing and adopting new skills and improve their independence. Together, you will manage finances, grocery shop and cook meals, support personal hygiene and medication management, and grow in all areas of independent living.

A typical day will include:

  • Providing culturally appropriate direct support to program participants using person-centered approaches and strategies that support clients to be fully engaged and included in each aspect of their daily life, have maximum choice and control, and gain independence. This can take many forms in residential and community settings, including:
    • Support and motivation to reach individual goals and objectives.
    • Conducts low income housing search activities leading to program participants living in a community suited to their individualized needs, choices, and desires
    • Engage and assist with meaningful activities that cater to the program participant’s individual interests, preferences, and choices; teaching as necessary.
    • Coordinates program participants’ personal and medical appointments, manages medications and medical protocols, and actively oversees program participants’ finances, including monthly budgeting and bill payment
    • Assists in accessing appropriate services, including employment services, medical/dental care, housing assistance, legal assistance, food banks, benefit programs (TANF, WIC programs, Social Security/Medi-Cal), and other community programs
    • Assistance with self-help needs including in the areas of grooming, hygiene, toileting, feeding and mobility as needed

What you’ll need to be successful:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • 6+ months experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities
  • Valid CA Driver’s License with clean driving record; immediate access to vehicle with working seatbelts to transport participants as well as comfort driving a full size van with multiple passengers
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and move up to 75 lbs
  • High comfort in using multiple computer /mobile device programs

  • Are multi-lingual (English, Spanish, Tagalog)
  • Believe in empowering individuals in living their most independent lives
  • Have experience with electronic case management systems (Therap preferred)
