ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

Licensed and appointed New York City Department of Education Teacher. Current Office of School Wellness Programs Staff member.


SELECTION CRITERIA:

  • At least three (3) years of satisfactory experience with the NYCDOE
  • Knowledge of and practical experience in sustaining a successful School Wellness Council
  • Knowledge of and experience in teaching health and/or physical education and/or another subject area
  • Demonstrate effective leadership at systematically prioritizing health and wellness as cornerstones of school culture, including establishing goals, programs, and policies
  • Knowledge and practical experience with the programs and services offered by the Office of School Wellness Programs, including collaboration with PE and HE Instructional teams, CHAMPS, Events and Professional Learning, Project Management and Administration, and Implementation teams
  • Knowledge and proficiency using the School Wellness Hub and the Wellness Council Manager application as well as familiarity with the Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child (WSCC) Model
  • Knowledge and practical experience with the support offered by the Office of School Wellness Programs
  • Excellent communication, organizational, problem-solving skills, and administrative skills.
  • Proficiency in email communication using the DOE Outlook email system and online web-based applications
  • Excellent record keeping, attendance, and punctuality

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Help prepare, plan, and facilitate virtual and in-person professional learning opportunities
  • Collaborate with select health, physical, and/or wellness education organizations
  • Assist with curriculum related materials development and resource review
  • Create plans and identify resources for School Wellness Council supports and initiatives
  • Participate in health/wellness-related events
  • Additional responsibilities as needed

WORK SCHEDULE:

  • May 2023 – June 2023
  • Max hours up to approximately 18 total. Additional hours granted upon the approval of the hiring manager.

SALARY:

Per Session rates as per the relevant union/organization of the advertised title (Collective Bargaining Agreement). Contingent upon funding availability and programmatic approval.
