Soft Tech Consulting is seeking a highly motivated, self-directed individual to fill the role of a System Analyst/Engineer, Jr. for an existing government client. The place of performance for this contract is in Sterling, VA.
MUST HAVE AN ACTIVE SECRET CLEARANCE
- Assist the SME Applications Engineer with ensuring stable operation and efficient performance of various applications.
- Monitor and manage various hardware and equipment, including routers, switches and encryptors.
- Analyze application performance across the organization’s LANs and WANs.
- Provide performance statistics and reports to the Senior Applications Engineer.
- Identify and remedy system faults.
- Administer hardware and software upgrades for networked security equipment.
- Perform research and development.
- Perform network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
- Administer and maintain user accounts, permissions and access rights.
- Perform system improvements, upgrades and repairs.
- Interact with vendors, outsourcers and contractors to secure network products and services. Assist the SME Applications Engineer with testing various Physical Security Information Management (PSIM) system integrations.
- Must be able to provide periodic 24/7 on call support.
- Provide customer service and operational support for all technical issues that cannot be resolved by Systems Engineering Staff and will coordinate global upgrade efforts with staff.
- Assist the SME Applications Engineer and is expected to collaborate with personnel from Networking, Systems Administration, Systems Engineering, Special Projects and Development branches to accomplish short term requirements and long term strategic goals.
- A degree in the field of computer science or a related discipline is preferred.
- IT certifications are a plus.
- Must have progressive experience with network management and analysis tools such as Splunk.
- Must have a solid working technical knowledge of software applications, protocols, and standards; hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience; knowledge of network security measures; and of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
- Three years or more of directly related experience is preferred.
