Our Corporate Accounting Team has a Hybrid In-Office/Remote Work Model. Tax Accountants, upon successful completion of training, report to the Corporate Office one (1) time per week. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Gather, analyze, interpret data and prepare sales, use and occupancy tax returns for multiple states and municipalities.
Coordinate and/or prepare personal property tax, CAT and OL-3 returns.
Maintain tax records, schedules and databases for all taxes.
Ensure timely payment of all sales, property and specialty taxes.
Research tax issues and respond to notices from various taxing authorities.
Develop a thorough understanding of various state and local tax laws applicable to the lodging industry.
Utilize computer applications to compile, retrieve and summarize accounting information.
Set up tax accounts for newly acquired properties.
Set up tax rates in computerized software systems.
Ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
Assist General Managers in proper collection of sales and occupancy tax and tax exempt reporting.
Assist Staff Accountants in reconciling sales & occupancy tax due to the general ledger.
Introduce or develop new ideas and processes which improve performance or productivity.
Performs various other duties as assigned to meet business objectives.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in accounting preferred.
Tax accounting experience preferred, but not required
Multi-state tax filing experience preferred, but not required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Strong attention to detail with high degree of accuracy.
Proficient with computerized software programs including Microsoft Office.
Strong tax compliance skills necessary.
Excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills.
Ability to operate with minimal direction and handle several projects simultaneously.
Judgment and independent decision making required.
Knowledge of tax law and current developments.
Ability to multitask.
Available to work overtime as needed.
Works well in a team environment and maintains a positive outlook.
