This position provides strategic leadership in a high volume financial shared services environment supporting an exciting collection of hotel properties across North America. This leader oversees the activities of two distinct teams with distinct responsibilities and is the liaison with our entities leaders as well as external stakeholders and tax authorities. This position is responsible to maintain strong internal controls while driving high levels of team member engagement and satisfaction of all stakeholders. This Manager is a results-driven professional able to deliver our brand promise of extraordinary customer service to our hotels and to our team members. The Tax and Fixed Asset Manager is responsible to ensure compliance obligations are efficiently, timely and accurately satisfied in regards to both, fixed assets recording and use tax reporting. This position reports to the Director of Accounting Services.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Provides day to day leadership on all components of accounting services related general ledger, fixed assets, and sales/use tax.
  • Review and file monthly tax returns and associated work-papers.
  • Ensures all check/EFT remittances and electronic filings are completed timely and accurately.
  • Reviews sales tax exemption certificates.
  • Responds to tax notices.
  • Monitors laws, regulations and rulings as it concerns sales and use taxes.
  • Performs sales/use tax internal reports as needed.
  • Ensures timely and accurate recording of newly acquired fixed assets as well as disposition.
  • Keep track of existing fixed assets.
  • Ensures timely and accurate recording of depreciation.
  • Performs periodic reviews of the fixed assets module is functioning as intended.
  • Performs fixed assets analysis as needed including fixed asset roll forward schedules.
  • Support Internal and External audit by performing due diligence and provide supporting documentation.
  • Ensures proper internal controls are in place and monitored through testing.
  • Identifies and implement improvement programs as necessary.
  • Creates and maintain department specific process improvement action plans and metrics.
  • Regular attendance in conformance with standards
  • May be required to work varying schedules to refect business needs
  • Required to attend all training sessions and meetings
  • Upholds all company and industry standards pertaining to PCI compliance, guest/financial/payroll confidentiality and accounting best practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • General knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP /SOX).

Education:

  • Bachelor's in Accounting required

Experience:

  • 5+ years of tax and fixed assets experience required. Hospitality finance experience preferred. Previous management experience preferred.

Preferred:

  • 3-5 years accounting experience required. Hospitality finance experience preferred. Previous management experience preferred.
