• We are seeking a Clinical Navigator to serve as a behavioral healthcare subject matter expert on Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) for the greater Tidewater/Eastern Virginia Service area.*

Day to day responsibilities include coordinating training and learning experiences, assistance with linkage and admission to treatment services, clinical consultation, and help to plan, develop and implement TBI treatment related services and supports.

General Responsibilities and Duties for TBI Navigator:

• Serves as an internal linkage to TBI care teams, TBI patients and State Hospitals
• Conduct brief information and referral services to individuals, caregivers, and professionals.
• Identify patient need and progress through interviews and review of patient records.
• Evaluate potential problems or resource needs
• Collaborate with other professionals to assess client needs or plan treatments
• Maintains sensitive, private health information in accordance to HIPAA standards and regulations.

Qualifications and Skills for TBI Navigator:

• Clinical knowledge of human development and psychological theory as it relates to traumatic brain injuries, human behavior, addiction, and PTSD.
• Understanding of the traumatic brain injuries and its impact on physical and psychological states and relationships.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and community partners
• Ability to search and critically review best evidence to guide clinical decision making and effectively share knowledge with colleagues as well as communicate relevant findings in appropriate language to the general public.
• some knowledge of military culture.
• Ability to organize and prioritize with minimal direction and maintain a well-organized work environment.
• Ability to problem-solve, use good judgement, and deal with diverse and difficult personalities.

Ability to work under moderate to high measures of stress.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong computer skills
• License Eligible Mental Health Professional (Resident or Supervisee) through the Virginia Board of Professionals.
• Master’s degree in Psychology or relative Human Services field.
• At least three (3) years of experience in Human Services.
