The Team Lead is responsible for supporting the Production Supervisor to drive results on key metrics including safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and productivity. You will model leadership while motivating the efforts of your team to meet customer requirements/order rates, ensuring that the lean production processes are running as designed and applying continuous improvement of the process to meet our metrics. Directs team and communications with other shifts’ Leaders to ensure smooth hand-offs from shift-to-shift.

When not performing functions of a Team Lead, this person will perform their primary duty as an Operator. In that role, they will perform as coater operator on the facilities’ coating machine. Work with Laminator Operator on application of various types of adhesives to substrate in preparation for laminating operations. . Will be required to work on various coating machines as work demands. Support the operators by working safe, as a team, while maximizing quality, productivity and material yield.

III. MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associates degree or vocational education/training is preferred
• At least 1 year of experience in a lean manufacturing environment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook required, experience with an ERP a plus
• Strong analytical skills and willingness to learn and work as technical expert

• Learn and follow FLEXcon’s ISO-9001 Quality Management System. These standards include all work instructions and procedures. Compliance to these standards is monitored by audits.
• Learn to produce P.S. product by laminating raw film to coated liner.
• Be capable to fill-in for P.S. Operator or Coater Operator when and as required.
• Computer proficiency required including the understanding and use the SCADA/recipe system.
• Hang and remove material for production or transportation to other areas in the plant.
• Properly preparing rolls for processing, identify and tag materials and document defects.
• Maintain proper records according to procedures.
• Provide proper samples to Quality Lab per work order requirements.
• Maintain productivity/scheduling requirements while maintaining minimum waste goals.
• Assign team tasks and lead daily production efforts to meet manufacturing deliverables; assist with machine operation/functional area tasks when necessary to meet schedules
• Leading the workflow and adjusting labor to fulfill customer requirements/orders by producing quality products, safely, in a timely manner following Standard Work.
• Conducts shift change over activities and ensures smooth hand-off from shift-to-shift.
• Must learn and follow standardized work that has been created within assigned role and standardize work processes to gain efficiencies.
• Review prior day’s production to understand and take required actions on misses and other issues; conduct root-cause corrective actions for all missed targets; and review Team Leaders’ daily task assignments/making new assignments and verifying execution of the team members’ standard work.
• Cross-train team members in various manufacturing processes to increase job satisfaction and promote depth of talent; ensure team members are fully trained in the area they are working in
• Work with Supervisor to develop and define procedures and the associated training for those procedures; provide procedural training to employees as needed
• Build and maintain strong cross-functional relationships with colleagues; work cross-functionally as needed to resolve issues and achieve mutual goals
• Lead 6S efforts and set the vision and example for all team members to follow
• Work with production scheduler to control materials usage, maintain inventory accuracy and ensure schedule conformance
• Adhere to safety standards at all times while enforcing safe work habits with all team members; this includes all OSHA regulations and facility safety guidelines
• Expected to participate in programs such as Hazmat Team, Safety Leadership Teams and/or DOT trained fork truck operators.
• You will take ownership to lead, set direction for change and improvements, and acknowledge and celebrate improvements made by your team.
• Performs audits, maintains records or files and produces reports as needed
• Support a culture of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement by actively participating in process improvements, lean initiatives, and problem solving activities.
• Works on significant and unique issues where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangibles. Exercises independent judgment in methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Creates formal networks involving coordination among groups.
