Technical Sales Engineer (job description)

We have partnered with a leader in a very Niche Industry to lead a search for their Technical Sales Engineer.

Job Description:

· Evaluate power transmission components and identify possible end-use cases for creating new product groups.

· Create more complete equipment solutions to increase per-order sales potential.

· Write easily understood and accurate technical descriptions for product sales.

· Manage artwork creation for technical sales. This includes writing SOW’s for creating sales quality 2D CAD and 3D Models, legend artwork for engineering data tables, and sourcing components for presentation.

· Manage offshore resources responsible for generating artwork and ensuring high-quality content is created.

· Create and update technical sales literature, including product descriptions, and manuals,

· Collaborate on vendor evaluation and business development efforts for new and existing product groups with the goal of partnerships with high-quality suppliers.

E-commerce technical sales development:

· Write technical documentation: Manuals, Technical data sheets, Product specification sheets, Product descriptions, and SEO-optimized product names.

· Scope and manage the creation of technical sales artwork using local and offshore support networks: 2D CAD,3D models, product legend/key artwork, sample selection, and photography

· Evaluate new product groups for sales development and identify potential end-use cases

· Assist in evaluating vendors and performance impact on sales

· Develop multi-component equipment packages that can be marketed as complete application solutions to increase per-sale revenue.

Key Abilities:

· A solid foundation in mechanical engineering or an applied engineer role is required. The individual must understand technical requirements and loading parameters such as force, temperature, and time and how well the design and materials of a given solution can support the application.

· A strong understanding of standard mechanical power transmission components and their use. Items such as ball and roller bearings, gearboxes, rod end bearings, cam followers, linear slides, bushings, and seals, as well as attributes that indicate the high quality or minimum acceptable standards.

· Must have excellent written communication skills, emphasizing simplifying complex subjects and explaining them in an easy-to-understand format. This individual will be required to create a significant quantity of product literature to support and sell the product to semi and non-technical users.

· Ability to collaborate with others to develop an effective and sustainable sales strategy.

· Ability to use, read and evaluate 2D drawings and 3D part models using Solidworks or Fusion-360 at a moderate or higher skill level.
