Primary Duties and Responsibilties
- Support 3D studio labs including Sculpture, Ceramics, and Makerspace
- Oversee all studios to ensure they are safe and accessible for students
- Help monitor and maintain tools and equipment
- Ensure tools and equipment are in working order and provide routine equipment maintenance
- Assist with ordering and stocking materials across all studios
- Assist with training students to use tools and equipment safely
- Assist with equipment and studio supervision and monitor safety
- Support project-based courses
- Supervise student workers
Studios include: a woodshop; metalshop; foundry; mold-making and casting area (wax, plaster, and investment); Makerspace (laserengraver, CNC router, vinyl cutter, 3D printers); 3D imaging studio; ceramics throwing and hand-building studios; clay storage and mixing; kilns (gas and electric); offsite kilns at the WKU Farm (wood and raku); and glazing stations.
This is a part-time one year appointment. Continuation will depend on need/funding.
Job Requirements:
- High School Diploma
- Experience working with a variety of tools and equipment
- Knowledge of basic equipment maintenance
- Ability to work well with others and as a member of a team
