Interning at GLA will help you to better understand the structure of a nonprofit while contributing to our work in environmental justice and community development. As a Development Assistant for GLA you work with the Development team to support our fundraising efforts, including prospect research for institutional funders and individual donor cultivation. This is a full-time (approx. 30-40 hours per week) position,
The Opportunity…
- Prospect new grant sources or funding programs and present pertinent information to the Development Manager
- Draft a Letter of Intent to send to a potential funder and support with reports and proposals as needed
- Consolidate and enter data on institutional partners and donors into our CRM platform
- Assist with donor centric communications, mailings, and special projects as needed
- Support planning a cultivation event with board members, current and lapsed donors, and other community members
- General administrative duties as requested
- Attendance at in-person meetings and fundraising events may be required (CDC guidelines will be followed for any requests for in-person meetings or events)
What you need to bring to this role…
- Classroom experience or comprehensive understanding and passion for energy and environmental policy
- Comfortable conducting research, synthesizing information and drafting materials
- Strong organizational skills and a great attention to detail.
- Volunteer or community service experience preferred
- Knowledge of Excel and social media tools
- Works well in both an independent and team environment
- MUST be available for a minimum 12-week commitment (with a possibility to extend near the end of the 12-week period)
- Hired CA candidates must be able to pass a screening for drugs that are illegal in the state of California, including: amphetamine, cocaine metabolite, opiates, and PCP.

Where you will sit & the places you may go…
This position may require up to 25% out-of-town travel to regional offices and special projects. Availability to work nights and weekends may be required.

GRID Alternatives provides vehicles for work travel, and due to COVID-19 current guidelines, we may also require limited personal vehicle use. In the latter instance, GRID will provide travel reimbursement for work-related personal vehicle use in accordance with our payroll schedule. Additionally, all applicants will need a valid driver’s license and good driving record to be considered.

remote full-time (approx. 30-40 hours per week) TEMP position. Hourly pay commensurate with experience within the pay range of ($20.00 - $25.00 per hour), plus the benefits listed below.
