Job description
Prepares cable either finished or new design, for evaluation by removing a portion of outer jacket, inner jacket, metallic shielding, yarn wrapping, water blocking tape, filling compounds, tube material, or any other material to provide access to portions to be tested. Inspects finished and new design cable to pertinent design specifications and compliance to applicable internal and industry standards. Performs optical and mechanical test on manufactured cable. Acquire and enter test data into various databases via data entry terminal to the corporate mainframe computer system.Prepares reports on test performed and results of test. Assists in upkeep of written procedures and work instruction. Seals cable ends or mounts hardware as per work instructions. Works with and performs applicable tests as required by local engineering, quality assurance and engineering test request.
Assists in investigating product complaints when directed. Performs routine production testing. Maintains test equipment and tools in good working order as required. Maintains housekeeping in inspection department.
Is safety conscious and observes safety rules.
