Desired Skills & Experience: *

• Minimum 2 years in a machine shop setting. Trade schooling or qualifications can be substituted for on the job experience.
• Must have a creative mind to help solve problems. May be asked to create parts without a provided print.
• Must be able to work alone or with others as a team to accomplish tasks.
• Ability to use precision measuring instruments. Calipers, micrometers, gauges etc.
• Be able to read blueprints and understand tolerances.
• Knowledge of common machines found in a tool and die shop and how to operate them safely and efficiently. Saws, surface grinder, Knee mills, lathe etc. Any heavy experience with manual machining is a plus.
• Any experience with metal stamping dies and tooling is a plus.
• Any experience with metal stamping presses, coil feed equipment and controls a plus.

Responsibilities:

• Will be responsible for preparing raw material for machining. Sawing to size, squaring, and grinding as directed.
• Sharpening punches, dies and other tooling used in stamping dies.
• Create and build jigs, fixtures and tools as directed.
• Assisting with die repairs and scheduled PMs as needed.
• Assist with die troubleshooting as needed.
• Setup and perform manual machining operations on new and existing parts.
• Keep work area and machines clean.
• Be willing to work outside of standard working hours as needed.
• Be capable of learning the trade from experienced superiors. This position is designed as starting point to becoming an experienced tool and die maker.
