Tow Truck Operator: Temp 1500 hours
Job description
This is a contractual position, employed by Anne Arundel County Office of Central Services - Fleet. This position will to respond to accidents, perform minor roadside repairs, and tow incapacitated vehicles to our facility or appropriate vendor. This role is part-time, with some increased activity during weather events.
Tow Truck Operator Responsibilities:
- Receiving communications from county fleet operations.
- Driving to the scene of a vehicle breakdown or accident.
- Interacting with the customer.
- Performing possible roadside vehicle diagnostics.
- Performing possible minor repairs to include Jump-starting vehicles, changing tires and reconnecting vehicle parts.
- Connecting the damaged vehicle safely to the truck.
- Towing the vehicle to an authorized county facility or vendor.
- Reporting to garage location and completing paperwork.
Tow Truck Operator Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED.
- 5 years experience with multiple types of towing equipment and operations.
- Basic knowledge of vehicle mechanics and systems.
- Valid Class B CDL driver’s license.
- Applicant must have the ability to crouch, perform automotive repairs in potentially inclement environments, and lift objects up to 50 pounds.
- Customer service and good communication skills.
Salary:
$20 per hour
Temporary position – 1500 hours per year
