The Tax Help program at Foundation Communities is seeking a team of enthusiastic, motivated individuals who can help us provide high-quality tax return preparation at our tax sites during the 2023 tax filing season. Tax team members make a tremendous impact in the Austin community while gaining meaningful non-profit experience working for a well-respected organization.

Position Description: The Transmitting Manager assists with the setup and maintenance of tax preparation software provided by the IRS. We are looking to hire two full-time Transmitting Managers to ensure coverage across daytime, evening, and weekend hours. The Transmitting Manager also plays a vital role in ensuring that tax returns are electronically transmitted in a timely manner. Temporary Position: Mid-December 2022 – April 2023.

Primary Duties/ Responsibilities

• Oversee transmitting process for all tax sites, ensuring all returns are transmitted and all rejected returns are resolved correctly, professionally, and in a timely fashion
• Serve as a team expert in transmitting returns, including processing acknowledgements of transmitted returns, troubleshooting rejected returns, and re-transmitting rejected returns in a timely manner
• Communicate with taxpayers regarding missing or incorrect tax return information and effectively explain any issues that arise in transmitting the return
• Work with the Supervising Site Managers and Tax Program Manager to troubleshoot issues as they arise
• Configure tax software settings for each tax site
• Provide overall support and guidance to tax staff on all software updates
• Regularly collect and analyze data for various reporting purposes in collaboration with the second Transmitting Manager
• File client paperwork and maintain organized records in the Transmitting office
• Effectively use email, scanning software, Google Drive, and other technology in program operations
• Lead Transmitting Specialists and Client Support Specialists

• Protect client confidentiality
• Complete all specified paid training and tax certifications (No previous experience is required, and support is provided throughout the training period)

Minimum Requirements

• Strong interpersonal skills
• Prior experience working in a fast-paced environment
• Proficiency with technology and knowledge of computer operations and software
• Must be proficient in English

Preferred Requirements

• Ability to communicate in multiple languages both written and verbal proficiently (English, and Spanish)

Working Conditions

General office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require standing and walking for up to 10% of the time. The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available.

Physical Requirements

Requires sitting or standing at a desk for long periods of time indoors. Eye and hand coordination for viewing of monitor screen along with high volume of keyboard use.

Compensation

$20.00/hour
