This position will direct and coordinate the driver team to increase company profitability and customer satisfaction by effectively managing the day to day operations of our private fleet.

The Transportation Coordinator will be planning all freight out of our Cross Dock Warehouse as well as any other outside freight to create a daily run list and ensure that all freight is delivered timely, efficiently, safely and in the most cost-effective way possible.

• Responsible for efficient and cost-effective scheduling of deliveries and routing of SCB/Bertch Cabinet trucks.
• Communicate daily plan clearly to the driver team as well as our stores and other customers.
• Use discretion and independent judgment in making decisions.
• Schedule pickups of returned materials from the stores.
• Coordinate with the Transportation Manager any driver issues to create a plan for load recovery.
• Seek outside line hauls from vendors or carriers to eliminate driving with empty miles and to build on the profitability of SCB/Bertch Cabinet LLC.
• Provide customer service and satisfaction to our stores.
• Ensure that all DOT regulations are followed.
• Help monitor driver performance and discipline.
• Work closely with Safety and HR to perform driver coaching's and other safety and HR communications to our fleet.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Prior transportation planning experience recommended.
• Prior or other dispatch software experience preferred.
• Excellent time management skills and the ability to work in high-pressure situations.
• Superior organizational skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent analytical thinking.
• Knowledge of logistics, including carriers, shipping policies, and procedures.
• Deliver excellent customer service with effective listening and communication.
• Manage time effectively and adapt quickly to change in priorities.
• Accuracy and attention to detail.
• Able to work independently with some direction.
• Able to read a map and accurately plan a route.
• Problem solving and analytical ability.
• Working knowledge of Department of Transportation rules and regulations preferred.
• DRW Routing will be used for planning software.
• Microsoft Office/Excel.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of organization.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to talk or hear. The associate frequently is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The associate is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The associate must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
