JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective The CDL truck driver position performs a variety of routine and complex transportation work in driving and coordinating transportation plans in support of the company.

Essential Functions

• Perform a variety of duties in the operation of driving, such as hauling, snowplowing, dumping, etc.
• May plan route to ensure the most economical use of time and equipment.
• Obtain road construction materials from storage yard and haul to the job site.
• Assist with preparing roads for surfacing; dig holes and trenches.
• Plow snow and salt roads according to company policy.
• Cut trees and brush, and remove trees and weeds when necessary.
• Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refer defects or repairs to supervisor; cleans equipment.
• Assist in the installing and maintenance of traffic control devices.
• Perform all duties in conformance to appropriate safety; security; and DOT standards.
• Control traffic at worksites by flagging to guide traffic through work areas, as required or assigned.
• Delivery of Street Trees
• Clean Driving Record and Must meet DOT requirements Class A License required

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in outside weather conditions. The employee is routinely exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration.

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet while in the office, or moderately loud when in the field.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk and hear. The employee is constantly required to use hands and fingers to feel, handle or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee will be required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and walk.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Hours of work are Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., 40 hours per week can include overtime hours.

Travel

Travel is primarily local during the business day.

Required Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED.
• 3 years of relevant experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to do the job.
• Valid CDL License. Class A
• Clean driving record.

Preferred Education and Experience

• CDL driver for Landscaping

We are required to wear our face masks at all times when we can not maintain a six-foot social distance. Face masks are required when speaking with a customer, client, or co-worker. Vehicles are disinfected each day.

• Commercial Driving: 2 years (Preferred)
• working in landscaping: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• CDL A and clean driving record (Preferred)
