We are currently seeking a Full-Time Truck Driving Trainer for our East Campus who will adhere to the aforementioned mission statement, and who will train in all areas of Truck Driving Academy.

GENERAL QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION

Required: Associate Degree or an equivalent combination of experience and education.

Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:

Required: Five (5) years of broad-based truck operations experience.

Preferred: Certified TXDOT Instructor.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES:

Required: Class “A” commercial driving license with a three(3) year safe driving record.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Train students in the basic operations of dump trucks and various truck/trailer combinations such as tankers, doubles, triples, bobtails, and straight trucks like flatbeds and vans.
  
• Training will occur in campus classrooms and/or field environments.
• Conduct the highest quality classroom and hands-on instruction for the entirety of an assigned class.
• Follow and teach all safety requirements and policies necessary for the operation of the equipment, the work site, the Texas Department of Transportation (when applicable) and any onsite training with other public or private entities.
• Perform equipment inspections and site evaluations in preparation for classroom and hands-on training.
• Enroll students in AC continuing education coursework (if off campus) and submit sign in sheets, accurate grades in Blackboard, any required documents (for contracted classes) as well as attendance records and travel expenses (when applicable) for each course taught.
• Required to instruct TXDOT classes off campus out of the Amarillo area along with regular AC classes in Hereford, Dumas and Amarillo.
• Produce or write training manuals to cover classroom and field training exercises.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Must maintain a commitment to discretion and confidentiality concerning sensitive information.
• Comply with all college, state and local policies, procedures, rules and regulations. Secure and safeguard all property, equipment, and training material including credit cards (if applicable) issued by Amarillo College.

• Knowledge of heavy equipment operation and equipment utilization.

• Knowledge of training design, teaching, and assessment of individuals and groups.

• Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in heavy equipment used in road and building construction.

• Exhibit professional behavior while assisting with the needs of students, faculty, staff, visitors, and co-workers.

• Ability to deal with people in a professional manner.

• Commitment to create and maintain a warm and welcoming office and campus environment.

• Commitment to discretion and confidentiality concerning sensitive information at all times.

• Knowledge of state and federal regulations concerning operations of all motor vehicles especially truck and trailer laws

• Knowledge of basic computer skills involving Microsoft programs (i.e, Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to perform a wide range of motion and mobility tasks involving climbing, crawling, bending, pulling, pushing and lifting in teaching and demonstrating operation procedures.

Work Conditions: Must be willing to work in inclement weather standing for long periods of time in a classroom setting. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule (days, nights, weekends, holidays, and varying events as necessary).

Work Environment: Exposure to outside weather conditions. Training will occur at our locations including Amarillo, Dumas and Hereford, where AC offers classes. Trainings are also held on our campuses and on local streets and highways.

Travel Expectations: Employee must comply with all Amarillo College travel rules and policies.
