Job description
The Unit Clerk provides a clerical support function at the nursing station. Clerical support includes telephone communication, typing,data entry, scheduling of some personnel and requisition of medical supplies from Central Supply.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintains employee folders
- Delivers new admission chart to unit and initates forms in preparation for admissions
- Faxes physicians ' orders daily-first thing in the morning from the previous shifts;
- Delivers any faxed printouts to the appropriate department;
- Completes daily tranfer of the vital signs and weights from the daily assignment sheet to the reisdent's charts;
- Checks the supply drawer at the nurses's station and re-stocks as needed
- \Maintains an orderly and neat nurses' station
- Screens all incoming phone calls for nursing and forwards messages
- Schedules appointments with the physicians for the residents ;relays the information to nursing
- Initiates any phone calls to the physician for the residents; relays the information to nursing
- Initates any phone calls to the physicians, family members or personnel
- Types as directed by Nursing Administration
- Notities the Food Service Department of any dietary changes
- Maintains a current bathing scheudole on the bath record for nurse aides
- Greets visitors;guests,residents, etc. and provide information/directions in accordance with the company policies and procedures
- ensures that residents and families receive the hightest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognize the individuals' needs and rights.
- Ordering medical supplies, under the direction of the DNS
- In the planned absence on the Central Supply Clerk, the unit clerk will fill medical supply requests
- The Unit Clerk will also act as relief Receptionist when teh Receptionist is on vacation,ill or omn other planned absenses
- Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
