POSITION SUMMARY:

The Mobile Food Veggie Van Driver is a primary driver for all Mobile Food Pantry and local deliveries in the site’s service area. This position will pick up donated product and will assist the Veggie Van Director as needed when not performing driving duties.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Under direction from the Director, deliver/pick up product from storage locations and deliver to assigned locations.
• Maintain transportation logs, pre-trip procedures, maintenance schedule, receipts, and invoices according to company policy.
• Accurately and consistently record all time plots, route discrepancies and route notes on the Driver's Manifest.
• Represent the Tampa Metropolitan Area YMCA in a friendly and professional manner in all dealings with the public.
• Assist with the loading and unloading of the mobile food pantry.
• Disburse product at the direction of the Director.
• Manage onsite volunteers
• Attend scheduled staff meetings and training events.
• Maintain required certifications according to Tampa Metropolitan Area YMCA guidelines throughout employment as a Van Driver.
• Model, reinforce, and abide by the YMCA core values and code of conduct.
• Perform additional functions or assume additional responsibilities as needed or as requested by your department director or supervisor.

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must be in good health and physically able of performing all duties of driver. Must be able to drive a vehicle safely and pass a driver’s road test.
• Must be able to speak and read English well enough to communicate with the general public, understand highway traffic and signals, understand a road map, respond to official questions, and be able to make legible entries on reports and records..
• Must know how to safely load and properly dock, brace, and secure cargo.
• Must have five years of driving history, CDL preferred.
• High school graduate or GED
• Must be able to comply with company driving policy.
• Must have excellent customer service skills.
