Are you looking for an environment to expand your veterinary technician skills while working with a supportive team of RVT’s, Veterinary Assistants and Doctors? You may be a “Superhero” in disguise! Our hospital is very fast paced! We see a unique mix of scheduled appointments like wellness and general practice visits as well as urgent care and emergencies. This position is perfect for someone who is looking to gain experience in all aspects of veterinary medicine.

Shifts: Day & Swing
Position Location: 4-6 wks. training at Los Gatos location. Permanent position at Los Altos location.
Base Wage Range: $21.75- $37.25/hr. + additional differentials
- Base wages- are determined during the interview process by what skills you know on the Adobe competency skills list.
- Differentials-RVT License-$6/hr., 40-Hour Work Week- $2.25/hr., Weekend- $3/hr.
Superhero Responsibilities
- Offer genuine client service at all times and maintain a professional, courteous, and helpful attitude at all times.
- Have excellent communication skills (written and oral) and incredible attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain excellent team work & communication skills under stressful situations.
- Open to helping in other departments when needed.
Veterinary Technician Responsibilities
- Able to help direct the work flow of scheduled appointments, technician appointments, urgent care appointments, and any patient care needed for those pets
- Interact with clients and patients, take an efficient and accurate history, and obtain patient vitals, explain treatments, procedures, medications, and disease processes
- Able to place complicated IV catheters in sick, debilitated, or crashing patients
- Give IM, IV, and SQ injections, ability to obtain blood samples from multiple sites
- Understanding of vital parameters (T, HR/pulse rate, RR, MM/CRT), ability to accurately obtain them, and knowledge of what abnormalities need to be reported to the doctor
- Understand common disease processes and possess knowledge of and ability to use appropriate medical terminology
- Familiarity with common medications and their applications, standard doses, and contraindications, accurately calculate dosages, administer medications, calculate and draw up IV fluid additives
- Monitor, assess, and treat critical care patients as well as updating doctor and client on patient status
- Ability to receive multiple oral and written patient care instructions, and efficiently and accurately perform them in a timely manner
