Job description
FEFA, LLC is currently seeking a Veterinary Technician for an animal research facility in Durham, NC. This description is not all-inclusive of the duties required to complete the job daily. Employees are expected to complete all assigned duties each day as directed by management.
Compensation is based on skills and experience.
- 7:00 am and 4:00 pm (Monday through Friday)
- May be required to work on the weekends and holidays as scheduled in advance, generally between 7:00 am and 12:00 pm, but this may vary.

JOB DUTIES:
- Applies appropriate veterinary terminology in all methods of communication.
- Administer drugs IV, IM, SQ, IP, and PO as directed.
- Safely and correctly handles and restrains small animals.
- Ability to learn about an aquatic’s colony.
- Receive instruction and demonstrate proficiency in completing tasks.
- Calculate doses, and administers treatments as directed.
- Ability to recognize emergencies.
- Examines animals with health issues as the first line of evaluation.
- Identify and communicate signs of abnormal or poor health.
- Assists in various procedures.
- Maintains sanitary conditions of all treatment and surgical areas.
- Collects and prepares diagnostic samples.
- Operates anesthesia machines, surgical equipment, and prepares and autoclaves surgical packs.
- Maintains the inventory of veterinary supplies and medications.
- Maintains animal records.
- All other duties as assigned by project management.
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Associate of Arts Degree in Veterinary Technology or equivalent experience.
- 5 years of Veterinary Technical experience
- Fundamental knowledge of animal anatomy and medical terminology
- Should hold a current AALAS certification at the LAT level or be eligible to take the exam within 1 year.
