Video Monitoring Technician
- (3213481)- Provides continuous observation and surveillance of assigned patients.
- First line of action is to verbally redirect the patient from engaging in at risk behaviors.
- Summons the nursing staff if the patient requires assistance by communication device or STAT Alert Alarm (if appropriate)
- Knowledgeable and supportive of patient and institutional confidentiality and related hospital policies.
- Demonstrates understanding and proficiency of the use of the Video Monitoring (VM) software.
- Maintains visual observation at all times.
- Verbally redirects patient over digital 2-way audio device that is in patient room.
- Immediately summons the nursing staff it the patient requires assistance.
- Demonstrates the knowledge and skill necessary to provide the appropriate care to this patent population based on the patients individualized treatment plan as delegated by the RN.
- Participates in hand-off of pertinent information/behavior about assigned patients when arriving on unit and upon completion of shift assignment.
- Provides patient with explanations as necessary, but does not consul or provide opinions.
- Demonstrates behaviors in line with Service Excellence.
- Seeks help or advice as soon as possible when patient appears to pose a threat to themselves or others.
- Participates in a collaborative identification and reporting of patient safety issues.
- Assures patient environment safety.
- Seeks assistant with removal of any potential safety hazard from room and reports findings to RN.
- Demonstrates safe work practices and attitudes, follow safety rules, works to prevent unsafe conditions and behaviors, and participates in organizational and department safety programs.
- Dedicated attention to observing patients with no outside distractions (no answering of phones unless calls to monitor station, etc.)
- Staying connect with audio by never taking off the headset.
- Never leave monitor station unattended. If you need to step away, call for backup first.
- No food or drink in patient care areas.
- Keep your workplace clean and tidy.
- No cell phone use in patient care areas.
- Maintain required documentation.
- High School Diploma/ GED
- Effective verbal, electronic and written communications skills using the English language.
- Computer proficiency required. Microsoft office applications preferred with ability to learn new software.
- Maintain variable work schedule to meet department needs. (evenings and nights, holidays, weekends and travel).
- Highly developed communications and interpersonal skills, working with diverse population.
- Work independently, be self-directed and contribute as a member of a team.
- Anticipates challenges and develops and implements strategies for addressing them.
- High level of service delivery. Demonstrate initiative with ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines and adapt to changing situations.
- Attention to detail.
