VINEYARD ASSOCIATE

Wilson Creek Winery is a family-owned winery in the heart of Temecula Valley Southern California Wine Country known for its quality wines and warm hospitality. The winery features a welcoming tasting room, full-service restaurant with vineyard view dining and expansive patio, creek side picnic area, indoor and outdoor conference and event spaces, romantic wedding venue and exclusive retreat accommodations.

Wilson Creek Winery & Vineyards is currently looking for a full-time VINEYARD ASSOCIATE in Temecula, CA.

POSITION SUMMARY*
The Vineyard team is responsible to ensure all vineyard operations are performed in a timely and efficient manner in order to grow the finest crop.

QUALIFICATIONS*

Must have a minimum of one year’s experience in either landscaping, vineyard or orchard.

• Preferably a minimum of two years or more in vineyard or orchard.
• Ability to learn and with minimal supervision carry out detailed vineyard care & maintenance (pruning, suckering, leaf thinning, etc.).
• Must have some basic mechanical skill.
• Knowledge of viticulture or plant science desirable.
• Must have ability to lift 50lbs on a consistent basis.
• Must be able to withstand extreme weather conditions.
• Must be able to endure heavy physical labor for up to 10 hours per day.

Maintain vineyards by performing the following:

• Watering, fertilizing and propagation methods.
• Soil preparation, weed control, irrigation, planting and harvesting techniques.
• Leaf trimming, chute thinning and suckering.
• Operates, maintains and repairs a variety of farm equipment such as rototiller, weed-eater, power mower, hand tools and tractor.

• Participates in Annual Harvest to include:

• Picking
• Crushing

• Occasionally supports the wine production department such as bottling, labeling, crush, etc.
• Any other duty as assigned by supervisor or management.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach and lift with hands and arms. The employee is most often required to stand and walk on stairs, grass, vineyards and the entire property of the winery. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision to distance.

This is a highly physical position which requires strength, endurance, and the ability to be standing, kneeling, reaching continuously throughout each work day.

This position requires working outside in the vineyards and on uneven ground, hills, holes, stickers and extreme weather.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.50 - $18.00 per hour
