Job Summary:

The Vice President of Accounting plans and oversees all aspects of an organization's accounting processes and establishes overall direction and strategic initiatives. Develops and administers organization’s policies and develops department goals and objectives. Provides leadership and oversees key operational and accounting processes and decisions for the team to improve efficiencies and performance. Directs the activities of the accounting staff and oversees all operations in connection with financial and accounting matters, including audits, preparation of financial statements, and tax filings. Ensures that the financial system is accurate, efficient, and in accordance with US GAAP and government regulations. The Vice President of Accounting is under the general direction and supervision of the CFO & SVP of Corporate Services.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Partner with senior management in defining the company’s Accounting strategic plan while ensuring the maximization of the company's financial performance.
  • Manage and take an initiative of strategic accounting communications with SEGA Group Company (SSHD Accounting & SOE Accounting).
  • Drive the month-end and year-end close process, conducting P&L and Balance Sheet reviews while comparing results to Budget and Forecast with variance analysis.
  • Work closely with Corporate Planning and other key stakeholders across the company to ensure the timely delivery of accurate and relevant financial information.
  • Liaise with external auditors and internal stakeholders to ensure timely completion of all financial and SOX audit requirements.
  • Maintain compliance, rules and regulations in accounting and tax segments:
    • GAAP (ASC) maintained by FASB
    • Tax compliance issued by IRS
  • Manage global CMS and support cash flow planning process and efficient cash management.
  • Develop and implement the department goals, projects, policies, procedures, methods, and internal controls and direct the general accounting activities.
  • Manage staff selection, performance, development, and training processes to ensure team competencies and capabilities to reach the business goals and expectations.
  • Actively participate in the evaluation and selection of a new ERP system and other accounting related applications to increase productivity companywide.
  • Oversee preparation of corporate tax returns and comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing financial reports; advising management on needed actions.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration with an Accounting concentration
  • CPA, MBA, or CMA preferred
  • 7 to 10 years of significant experience in a similar executive-level role within a global organization required
  • Experience in video game or entertainment industry is a plus
  • Advanced computer skills including all MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Technical and comprehensive knowledge of all accounting & finance, tax management, and financial planning of a business including an excellent understanding of GAAP
  • Knowledge of management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique and coordination of people and resources
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal guidance in a fast-paced environment while also working in a team oriented, collaborative environment
  • Leadership skills to promote embody our culture, values, and beliefs with passion
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to exercise good judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis
