Assume a critical role with Retail Advice and Solutions (RAS) as a key member of the RAS technology leadership team. The candidate will be a high energy and passionate individual who inspires teammates to reach their maximum potential, they are excited to try new solutions and ideas, they embrace a culture of trust and transparency, they promote free thought and are brave and willing to challenge the status quo.

The Solution Architect owns the technical and architectural decisions for the Advisor journey’s that span multiple domains – with dependencies across other, non-RAS functional areas.

Valuing simplicity and willing to challenge technical constraints and procedures to achieve agile design. The Solution Architect is keen to get hands-on, actively helping the teams solve the biggest problems. This individual is an executor as well as the visionary force behind the technical solution. They are responsible for planning and developing the architectural runway in collaboration with the Enterprise Architect(s).

Key responsibilities include:

  • Design the overall technological architecture of the product with the help of the teams and Enterprise Architects

  • Guide Agile teams on technology strategy related to coding practices, continuous integration, and automated deployment

  • Responsible for technical design and infrastructure / environments strategy, including deployments, ensuring that these are kept in-line with an MVP mindset of ‘emerging architecture’

  • Work with the team to help empower and provide the right tools to deliver sprint goals

  • Mentor and coach the technical team, specifically with code quality when needed

  • Identify and remove technical impediments

  • Work with Product Owners to align the roadmap with strengths and opportunities within the technical stack

  • Constantly look for better ways of solving technical problems and designing the solution, not afraid to challenge the status quo

  • Provide the teams a roadmap for implementing software engineering practices for higher code quality

  • Share responsibility with Chief Product Owner for building reusable and scalable components

  • Engage with key non-technology stakeholders to help drive a common vision of technology for the respective domain

  • Guide business stakeholders in terms of aligning business strategy and objectives to the technology vision

  • Work closely with the Solution Architect Cross Domain and Solution Architect Compass to ensure technology alignment and an integrated experience for Prudential Advisors

  • Evangelize a more strategic approach to technology solutions for common business functions

  • Maintain key relationships across functions spanning the Global Technology to further explore technology services leveraging opportunities across the USIR and the Enterprise

  • Cultivate and maintain good working relationships with key technology vendors that support RAS platforms

Professional Skills and Personal Characteristics:

The successful candidate will have the following domain expertise:

  • Seasoned technical lead with deep insight into newest technology trends

  • Significant experience with Agile infrastructure, environments, and deployment strategies / technologies to drive efficient working practices and DevOps

  • Can make architecture decisions at a team and product level

  • Experience working on projects that span multiple organizations and business units

  • Hands on experience driving the engineering and execution of modern field support, sales automation and productivity tools

  • Demonstrable experience in engineering solutions through the process of decoupling complex monolithic systems

  • Broad and deep experience in developing and implementing strategic and tactical systems plans with a successful track record of partnering with the non-technology business functions

  • Deep understanding of and direct responsibility for designing the technologies and applications required across the broad range of critical business functions inherent in the insurance and financial services industry such as Product Development, Actuarial Systems, Illustrations, New Business, Underwriting, Policy Administration and Customer Service.

Demonstratable Agile experience, including:

  • Experience in Agile Development as a developer, Tech Lead (or similar) preferred

  • Understands relationship between Product Owner, Scrum Master, and rest of the team

  • Strong sense of design thinking

  • Experience managing technical priorities within the backlog

  • Proficient at Agile estimation, Epic/Feature/Story Writing, Sprint Ceremonies, release / PI planning.

  • Strong communication skills with ability to align the organization on complex technical decisions

  • Active coach and mentor whose goals are to grow and maximize the team’s potential

  • Establishes a clear vision and strategy, focuses externally, takes intelligent risks and collaborates to seize opportunities

  • Adept at demonstrating soft skills such as collaboration, creative thinking, critical observation, decision making and problem solving.

Minimum of fifteen years information systems management experience with demonstrated success as an Information Technology leader in financial services or consulting industries.
