Rate: $20/hr. Part-time (24 - 30 hours per week and is day shift only)
Benefits: After 90-day probationary period meeting minimum of 24 hours per week, candidate qualifies for paid time off and will be considered for full-time
Expected Start Date: May 2023
This role starts at 24 hours per week but can move up into full-time for the right candidate after the successful completion of a 90-day probationary period.
Durham Distillery, winner of the "Best Distillery in the Triangle" seven years in a row (2016 - 2022) and distillers of Conniption Gin, is looking for a Distillery Production & Warehouse Associate who will be responsible for performing highly diversified duties. Our production/packaging is expanding, and this is a vital role at Durham Distillery — packaging and facilities management is a very important part of keeping the distillery humming. We have a small, lean team, and we work extremely hard but also, we have a lot of fun because, hey - we make gin!
This Associate will be a self-starter, looking to become an integral member of the distillery production team including but not limited to: bottling, canning, packing, and maintaining facilities machinery (assist to troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive and preventive maintenance systems).
What You'll Do:
- Assist with bottling/canning of distillery products, including Conniption Gin; Conniption Ready to Drink canned cocktails, Damn Fine liqueurs
- Assemble boxes, equipment, tables as needed; assemble and move pallets and tables when necessary
- Shrink wrap and palletize cases in preparation for shipment; loading and unloading of shipments
- Organization of pallets in distillery and warehouse
- Provide facilities support in a high-volume manufacturing environment
- Safely operate and service equipment, troubleshoot problems, changeover equipment, perform quality checks and maintenance tasks
- Perform equipment changeover, preventative and reactive maintenance including inspection, lubrication and equipment set up daily
- Understand and adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures and best practices to ensure quality standards for bottling lines
- Complete daily and routine maintenance on equipment as needed
- Ensure all electrical, HVAC (some), and building facilities are maintained. Perform small repairs on company equipment and appliances. For larger projects, oversee the hiring and successful completion by third parties
- Assist with the clean-up of trash and debris from the distillery and warehouse space.
- Clean distillery tanks and equipment on an as needed basis
- Clean and maintain ice machine on a bi-monthly basis
- Understand and comply with safety requirements of work area and keep safety top of mind at all times during general operation, maintenance, changing parts and setup of equipment
- Ensure adherence to all Personal Safety, Food Safety and Environmental Policies and Procedures
- Utilize team messenger service (Slack) for communication
Must have:
- 1-2 years of Distillery and/or Brewery Production or Maintenance experience a plus
- High school degree (College/Trade school experience a plus)
- Work well in a team-oriented environment
- General “handyperson” knowledge/experience with basic understanding of electrical systems, plumbing, HVAC
- Familiarity with restaurant equipment (ice machine, refrigeration); carbonation/kegging a plus
- Ability to drive a box truck (non-CDL), operate a forklift, use powered pallet jacks a plus
- Familiarity with loading dock operations (load/unload) a plus
- Must have reliable transportation
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment
- Great communication (email & phone) and interpersonal abilities for external providers as well as internal customers
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent standing, reaching, climbing, stooping and kneeling required. Must be able to consistently lift and handle 50+ pounds worth of material.

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
