PRIMARY PURPOSE: The Volunteer Associate - Reach Truck Driver is responsible for warehousing functions associated with receiving, storing, food inventory, order processing, shipping, and quality control. This role may also assist volunteers in the sorting of food product and assembly of various food boxes to support our partner agencies and NTFB programs as part of the volunteer experience.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certifications:
- High school diploma or GED required
Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills as it relates to the job
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Able to manage time efficiently and meet deadlines
- Knowledge of warehouse safety regulations preferred
Experience:
- One year of related warehouse experience and/or training
- Shipping and/or receiving experience is a plus
- Experience operating a reach forklift required
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform shipping and receiving processes including counting, sorting food goods, order picking, loading, and unloading of product
- Support the Production team by picking pallets needed for daily builds; assisting with setting of daily production lines; restocking product as needed on lines; wrapping pallets; and assisting with tagging and putting away of pallets
- Sort and place materials or items on racks or shelves according to date received
- Operate manual and electric pallet jacks and forklift equipment to load and off-load freight/products up to 50+ pounds unassisted
- Complete required checklist, before operation of material handling equipment, and ensure supervisor signs off after use
- Maintain inventory accuracy in all transactions and product activity by following assigned procedures; assist in counting of physical inventory
- May lead and engage volunteers to provide instructions for proper sorting or box kitting of product
- Mark materials with identifying information using appropriate method
- Ensure cleanliness, orderliness, and safety of facility by following appropriate NTFB food safety and personnel safety policies and procedures
- Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards in accordance with all applicable policies and procedures
- Complete any necessary equipment trainings as mandated
- Perform other tasks and duties as assigned

- The person in this position needs to be able to read; communicate verbally and/or in written form; remember and analyze certain information and remember and understand certain instructions or guidelines.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk or hear.
- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth vision and the ability to adjust focus.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to successfully operate all gas and electric-powered forklift trucks, as well as manual pallet jacks and other warehouse support equipment, following completion of mandated training.
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:
- Moderate to loud noise (e.g., music and medium to heavy traffic in the warehouse with forklifts and pallet jacks).
- This person should have the ability to work in varying internal (hot and cold) temperature levels in the warehouse
- Tuesday - Saturday, 8:00AM - 4:30PM (schedule may change dependent on company/department changes)
- Able to participate in events outside the traditional workday schedule on occasional evenings and weekends
