Maintenance 2 – WATER/SEWER CREW
JOB DESCRIPTION: The performance of a variety manual tasks during the construction, repair and maintenance of city services and facilities productively. Employees in this class report to the immediate supervisor, if not available report to the Public Works Director. Work involves responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of equipment assigned which will include but is not limited to: backhoes, front-end loader, & dump truck. Work also involves manual labor of a physically demanding nature. Work may also involve operation of power tools and light duty automotive equipment. Tasks performed include: (1) work as a member of a water/sewer maintenance crew; (2) assists in building manholes, cleaning and unstopping sewers; (3) assist in installing, maintaining, and repairing water/sewer lines; (4) repair leaks in meter boxes; (5) patch holes in streets and driveways; (8) work as a member of street construction/maintenance crews performing such tasks as mixing, pouring and shoveling asphalt and concrete, (9) dig out holes and trenches with manual and automatic digging tools and fill depressions; (10) operate power tools when necessary; (11) wash & lubricate vehicles used by crew; (12) maintain and perform minor repairs to equipment; (13) keeps records and logs of time, material, and equipment used; (14) prepares routine reports; (15) cross train with other departments; (16) perform other tasks as assigned. (17) must be available for 24-hour call.
Desirable Knowledge, Abilities and Skills
1. EDUCATION: High School diploma or equivalent. Possess a valid CDL Texas drivers license.
2. EXPERIENCE: Some experience in operating and servicing medium duty trucks helpful.
3. KNOWLEDGE: Principles of operating and servicing medium duty trucks, traffic laws, ordinances and regulations involved in operation of equipment. Occupational hazards and proper safety precautions associated with equipment assigned. Use of standard equipment and tools.
4. SKILLS: Operate assigned equipment safely and efficiently and perform manual labor.
5. ABILITY: Understand and follow instructions. Climb and grease trucks as needed. Perform manual labor under conditions involving extremes of heat and cold, be exposed to sunlight, stoop, bend and lift a minimum of 100 pounds. The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, City officials and the public. Must possess a valid CDL Texas drivers license. This work involves operating medium equipment and unrestricted use of hands and fingers and climbing into manholes at least 4-6 foot deep without assistance.

Pay: $19.14 - $19.71 per hour
