Foster Love is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization committed to improving the lives of children in foster care across the US. We collaborate with community partners to bring resources to youth in foster care and use service-learning activities to educate volunteers on issues surrounding the foster care system. Since our founding in 2008, we have supported tens of thousands of foster children across the country by providing them with bicycles, college supplies, and sweet cases to improve the foster care experience.

The Position

We are seeking an individual who loves programming, is very detail-oriented, is design-focused, and has the ability to work effectively with a team and individually. You will be responsible for implementing visual elements and functionalities that users see and interact with on our web applications.

Duties & Responsibilities

● Develop, maintain and improve websites and web applications

• Developing and validating test routines and schedules to ensure that test cases mimic external interfaces and address all browser/device types.

● Work in multidisciplinary teams with other professionals such as backend-developers and designers

● Being consistent with design patterns

● Getting feedback from users

● Make suggestions for better solutions to problems

● Staying up-to-date with the latest and emerging technologies

• Ability to be flexible in learning new technologies at a fast pace, as needed.

Requirements:

• Belief and support of Foster Love’s mission

● 3-4 years experience in web frameworks such as Django or React

• Experience with third-party libraries such as Redux and Axios
• Experience working with RESTful APIs and JSON
• Expert proficiency in JavaScript, including Asynchronous JavaScript, DOM manipulation and the JavaScript object model
• Experience with user authentication and working with JSON Web Tokens

● Excellent knowledge of web application troubleshooting and debugging practices and techniques

● Experience working with graphics software such as Adobe Suite, Sketch, Invision, etc.

● Sense of ownership and pride in your performance and its impact on the company’s success

● Critical thinker and problem-solving skills

● Team player: great interpersonal and communication skills

● Good time-management skills

Nice to Haves:

● Experience in building high-quality mockups and design different prototypes

● Providing high-quality graphics and visual elements

• Experience in following the Agile process
• Experience working with cloud provider such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
