Salary InformationTypical starting wage range is $22.63/HR to $27.79/HR, dependent on qualifications or experience.
Full wage range is $22.63/HR at Step 1 to $34.23/HR at Step 20. Job Duties
Responsible for the assessment, counseling, education, reports and records of Women, Infants and Children (WIC) participants. Ability to be friendly, polite, and appropriate, even when dealing with challenging clients. Conducts dietary and nutritional risk assessment. Addresses specialized dietary needs in high-risk clients. Provides nutrition counseling to clients at certifications and follow-ups including high-risk clients. Provides breastfeeding promotion and support as appropriate. Prescribes appropriate WIC food package. Develops and monitors client care plan recommendations and referrals. Authorizes special formula issuance. Prepares nutrition education materials/aids. Assists in development, implementation, and evaluation of nutrition education efforts of the clinic. Works with the Nutrition Services Coordinator to plan, implement and evaluate the annual Nutrition Services Plan. Minimum Qualifications
1. Must have a Bachelor"s Degree in Dietetics, at a minimum.
2. Must meet licensing requirements by the State of Kansas for Dietitians and hold a current license in the State of Kansas.
3. Dietitians must meet registration requirements by the American Dietetic Association and hold a current National registration.
4. Must have a valid Driver"s License and must provide own transportation.
5. Must have good communication skills to work with the Staff and public in a congenial manner.
6. An ability to maintain a professional demeanor.
7. Must have basic computer knowledge.
8. An ability to plan and organize work.
9. Must be flexible and be able to adapt to different tasks. Physical Requirements
Determined Work Level: Level 3 - Medium Work Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly. Ability to communicate by the spoken word. Ability to hear. Must have fine and gross motor ability. Must be able to operate computer and telephone. Veteran's Preference
