Windows Device Driver Development - C/C++


THE ROLE:

Do you want to be a key contributor in a fast paced and agile environment, and part of a friendly team within AMD developing software for Data Center solutions? The Data Center Video Solutions team is looking for a skilled Windows Driver developer to join our team. As part of our team, you will be responsible for creating Windows based device drivers for our cutting-edge video transcode solutions in the data center. This smart video accelerator solution utilizes industry leading hardware, software and Machine Learning technologies to accelerate numerous types of video workloads for leading Hyperscalers as well as streaming service providers to provide optimal and cost efficient solutions in the Data Center. The drivers you develop will be based on the Windows MCDM driver framework to provide support for the key video processing IP blocks in the underlying hardware and allow a full video processing software stack to be built upon to access the hardware capabilities.


THE PERSON:

The team is looking to welcome a talented, self-driven, motivated, hands-on software engineer who can thrive in a fast-paced agile environment and shares our enthusiasm for developing high performance, easy-to-use, scalable, and extensible tools using modern software development technologies and practices.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and develop Windows MCDM framework based drivers for key IP blocks in our smart video transcode hardware.
  • Some of these drivers will be ported from an existing set of Linux based drivers, hence familiarity with both Windows and Linux device driver support is helpful
  • Provide support for higher level Windows based video software stack to access underlying hardware capabilities.
  • Working with a talented and friendly team of engineers, you will be responsible for the complete life cycle of the solution development, including architecture, design, development, and validation

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Strong software development experience in Modern C/C++, and experience using multiple languages and programming paradigms
  • A mindset for developing high quality software stacks with well defined pluggable components using modern build systems and unit testing frameworks
  • Experience with Windows based device driver architecture, design, and code development
  • Experience in working with Windows MCDM based driver frameworks a huge plus
  • Experience with Linux driver development a plus
  • Basic knowledge of Machine Learning architectures a plus
  • Experience with standard video frameworks like FFMPEG, GStreamer etc. a plus
  • A mindset of continuous learning and development
  • Excellent team player with ability to work with teams and individuals spread across geographies.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • BS or MS (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related equivalent)

COMPENSATION RANGE & BENEFITS:
