South Shore Bank is seeking a Wire Transfer Administrator who will report into the Deposit Operations Payment and Fraud team. This individual will be responsible for processing incoming and outgoing wire transfers throughout the day. In addition, this role will serve as a back-up for ACH processing, return deposit item processing and overdraft processing.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Process outgoing domestic and international wire transfer transactions in accordance with established policy and procedures.
- Review wire transfer requests for accuracy and validate authorizations.
- Process incoming wire transfers and ensure timely crediting to client’s accounts.
- Monitor account/transaction activity to identify potential fraudulent wire transfer requests.
- Perform research related to wire transfer investigations as requested by clients and business units.
- Perform daily reconciliations with the Federal Reserve Bank.
- Process domestic collection items.
- Post entries and reconcile general ledger accounts associated with wire transfer and foreign exchange fees.
- Ensure the Bank remains in compliance and regulations are met.
- Communicate both in writing and verbally with all levels of management, commercial and retail banking clients, banking centers, vendors, and the Federal Reserve.
- Serve as a back-up, or assist as needed, with daily ACH processing, return deposit item processing and overdraft processing.
- Must be a detail oriented individual with strong communication/interpersonal skills.
- Maintain the ability to work under strict deadlines.
- Work with various technologies (online banking system, wire processing system).
- Must have a strong ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks on a continued basis.
- Experience with Digital Products, preferably in banking.
- Experience within the financial services industry, preferably in banking.

- Must be able to work independently and perform a wide range of responsibilities.
- Strong attention to detail, understanding of internal controls, and familiarity with the banking regulatory environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
- Good verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work with customers/individuals at all levels within/outside the organization.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Experience within the financial services industry, preferably in banking.
- PC experience and understanding of Word and Excel programs. Strong verbal/written communication and organizational skills.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos is required. Ability to write simple correspondence using Word or word processor program is required. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization is required.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs is required.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
