Women’s Track & Field Assistant Coach and Sports Performance Assistant
Job description
Hollins University, a NCAA Division III institution and member of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC), invites applications for the full-time position of Women’s Track & Field Assistant Coach and Sports Performance Assistant beginning immediately. This is a full-time, 11-month (August – June) position reporting to the Director of Athletics in conjunction with the Head Women’s Cross-Country and Track & Field Coach.
About the Role
Indoor and outdoor sport coaching duties including supporting the head coach through coaching, student-athlete development, recruitment, and program administration, as well as a demonstrated commitment to advancing Hollins’ diversity, equity, and inclusion goals and working effectively with a diversity of students. This position also assists the Director of Sports Performance and Student Wellness with student-athlete physical and mental development including maintaining and managing healthy lifestyles and contributing as effective teammates.
Position Qualifications
Successful applicants must have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience, a thorough understanding and working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations and NSCA principles, possession of (or ability to obtain upon hire) first aid and CPR certifications, and a valid United States driver’s license with minimal violations. Candidates must demonstrate effective coaching methods; exhibit excellent recruiting, leadership, role-modeling, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; have demonstrated success working with diverse populations; and possess Microsoft Office proficiency. Applicants must also have abilities to work well with students, families, and campus constituencies, as well as work independently and as part of a team. Candidates must also be willing and able to travel and work evenings and weekends. Applicants with experience as a sprints, jumps, and hurdles coach; minimum of one year of relevant coaching experience (preferably at the collegiate level); as a physical education instructor; and in a single-sex, residential, liberal arts higher education institution are preferred.
