TITLE: Account Manager I
DEPARTMENT: N/A
REPORTS TO: Owner
FLSA: Non-Exempt, Hourly
Hours: 8:00 – 5:00 – Monday – Friday: Hours may flex upon approval of Management.
Supervisory: none
Availability: Must be available to clients/staff from 8:00 to 5:00. May work evenings/weekends in order to meet client/business needs with approval of Owner. Overtime must be approved by
Management.
Position Summary
The Account Manager performs the essential functions of the position, which include aiding
Sales Executives and Account Executives and clients with service needs and making changes to existing accounts. Specific service and marketing responsibilities are required in this position.
Meets service and sales delivery standards and performs essential functions to the quality and service standards developed by the agency. Coordinates with Commercial Account Managers and /or Assistant Commercial Account Managers/Support at the request of the Owner. May be assigned special projects by Owner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Marketing: o Completes applications in coordination with Sales Executive/Account Executive(s); submits applications to eligible and appropriate carriers; follows up to ensure timely receipt of quotations and policies o Accompany Sales Executive/Account Executive on prospect and client meetings.
May be asked for information for meeting.as requested by Sales Executive o Schedules appointments with clients as requested by Sales Executive/AccountExecutive(s). o Provides technical support to Sales Executive/Account Executive(s); specifically in analyzing client needs, coverage forms and quotations
o Advises Sales Executive if the direct billing, agency billing or premium financing is available. Implements Sales Executive decision and invoices accordingly o Processes renewals in coordination with Sales Executives/Account Executive(s) according to agency procedures. Produces renewal info and attends meeting with the
Sales Team. Implements teams strategy determination, marketing and carrier negotiations o Orders and issues binders, certificates, policies, endorsements and other related items; verifies their accuracy; forwards them to client with appropriate correspondence with the assistance of the Assistant Account Manager/Support o Prepares summaries of insurance, schedules and proposals for word processing or in excel as needed. o Binds proposals and/or works with support to prepare and bind proposals.
- Client Services: o Sends audits of policies to Sales Executive. Maybe asked to review and verify accuracy. At request of Sales Executive supports the facilitation of corrections, as needed, between client and carrier. Notifies Sales Executive of all audits. o Analyze audits ( including but not limited to: WC/Auto/GL/Other) for clients.
Requested to order information from insurance companies. o Workers’ Compensation Ex Mods. o Verifies policy and policy change information, facilitating corrections when necessary o Processes incoming mail and phone requests, responding promptly and appropriately o Uses agency credit and collection policy in invoicing and pursuing prompt payments; request cancellations from the carrier according to agency standards o Determines reasons for requests for cancellations; acts to save accounts; notifies Sales
Executive/Account Executive(s) o Processes and following up on cancellations requests to carriers to ensure accurate and timely resolution; maintains agency in financial equity whenever possible o Works with Sales Executive to identifies exposure to loss . Processes recommendations of appropriate coverages in coordination with Sales
Executive/Account Executive(s) o Prepares premium allocations for clients as needed. o Sets priorities and manages work flow to ensure efficient, timely and accurate processing o transactions and other responsibilities
- Claims Services: o Submits claims on behalf of clients. Coordinates processing for claims with Support
Staff. Owner is notified of all claims. May be asked to file claims. o Monitor claims activities is not required but as position grows would oversee this process. Producing Claims Reports for owner as requested.
- Other Requirements: o Maintains a cordial and effective relationship with clients, co-workers, carriers, vendors and other business contacts
o Keeps informed regarding industry information, new product information, legislation, coverages and technology to continuously improve knowledge and performance o Interacts with others effectively by utilizing good communications skills, cooperating purposefully and providing information and guidance, as needed, to achieve the business goals of the agency
Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills)
- College education with a minimum of 2 years insurance experience or a minimum of 7 years insurance experience
- Ability to understand written and oral communication, and interpret abstract information.
- Ability to carry out complex tasks with many concrete and abstract variables.
- Strong computer skills with and familiarity with tools such as Outlook, Excel, Word and agency managements systems; such as, TAM, EPIC, Applied Systems or other Commercial
Lines Software
- Ability to manage complex projects
Desired Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills)
- Ability to analyze complex insurance situations, needs and options and communicate these options both verbally and in writing in a clear, concise manner
- Property, Casualty Producers License ( Can take exam/study upon hire 60 days) paid by employer
- Advanced Knowledge of insurance products and usages
- Advanced Knowledge of insurance markets and reference to markets
- Knowledge of insurance rating and underwriting procedures
