Accounting Coordinator
Department: Finance Administration & General
Typically Reports To: Regional Director of Finance and GM of Hotel
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Pay Range: $18
Position Summary:
Assists the Directors in the daily administration of accounting and some light human resources functions for the hotel. The ideal candidate will perform assigned duties within accounts payable and receivable, payroll, inventory functions, invoice maintenance, and cash handling/applications. This position will also require the person in this role to adhere to budgets and forecasts.
Accounting Responsibilities include:
- Update and maintain financial records.
- Handling cashier responsibilities along with assisting the auditing process.
- Helps process hotels’ payroll via Ceridian Dayforce along with verifying submitted pay data.
- Verify and post details of business transactions, such as funds received and disbursed, and totals accounts to ledgers and databases.
- Process journal entries and reconcile bank statements in comparison to general ledger.
- Assist in preparation of consolidated internal and external financial statements by analyzing information from the general ledger system.
- Review and balance internal accounts, analyze variances, and prepare work papers.
- Participate in month-end close activities, including preparation of journal entries, reconciliation of accounts, sales tax computations, and other accounting duties in a timely manner for multiple entities.
- Assist in monthly, quarterly, and year-end audit requests.
- Interacts with third-party vendors on behalf of the hotel to look into discrepancies.
- Retrieving invoices and submitting to the correct personnel/department.
- Perform routine clerical accounting duties within a fast-paced accounting department, while adhering to established accounting standards.
- Other ad hoc accounting requests that fall within the position’s role.
Human Resources Responsibilities include:
- Periodically assists with recruitment.
- Facilitate Team member onboarding.
- Help with human resources file maintenance.
- Assist with paycheck/paystub distribution.
- Assists with ordering from approved vendors for items such as associate uniforms, department supplies, etc.
- Assists with team member engagement such as events, recognition programs, etc.
- Assist with any Marriott Brand audits.

Qualifications:
- Minimum two years in accounting type role
- Highschool diploma or equivalent
- Payroll experience a plus
- Basic knowledge of GAAP

The team member is required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned. The team member is subject to inside environmental conditions. The noise level is usually quiet. The team member is subject to hazards that include proximity to electrical current found in office related equipment. The team member is occasionally subject to atmospheric conditions such as perfumes, odors, or dusts.
