Accounting Manager Position Overview
Reporting to the Controller, the Accounting Manager will be responsible for supporting the monthly close process. This position interacts daily with other leaders, managers, and colleagues of the various businesses and functional areas. This role also interfaces with the independent external auditors and tax advisors, provides account reconciliations and analyses for all departments, fairly represents the financial condition and results of operations of the company, develops controls necessary for the proper conduct of the business, and maintains accurate accounting records.
Accounting Manager Responsibilities
- Preparing and recording asset, liability, revenue, and expenses entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
- Maintaining subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies.
- Maintains, reconciles, and administers all general ledger accounts including but not limited to accounts receivable, inventory, fixed assets, and accounts payable.
- Assists the Controller with supervision and delegation of work to the accounting staff.
- Oversees implementation of accounting systems, policies, and procedures.
- Assures accurate and timely monthly closing and assists with preparation of monthly financial statements.
- Assists with coordination of annual independent audit and preparation of supporting schedules/forecasts for annual tax returns.
- Responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with other Corporate Departments such as Operations, Sales & Human Resources, as well as other business entities.
- Able to work independently, meet project deadlines, prioritize tasks, and work on multiple projects.
- Collaborate with the FP&A team on monthly analysis and management reports.
Accounting Manager Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting.
- MBA or CPA preferred.
- Proven experience as a Senior Accountant or similar.
- Five years related experience.
- Experience with Sage, OneSource, Concur, and Microsoft Office Suite desired.
- Working knowledge of data collection, data analysis, evaluation, and scientific method.
- Strong technical understanding and ability to translate technical requirements into easy-to-understand business concepts.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; able to manage priorities and workflow.
- Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities.
- Ability to work with all levels of management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
